Organic Farm Slibar

Tržič, Upper Slovenia, Slovenia

Old fruit trees, goats grazing on the pasture and impressive mountains - the Organic Farm Slibar in Slovenia attracts guests with lots of nature and tranquility.

The organic farm with its seven wooden huts is run in the 5th generation by Monika and Gregor and their six children. Gregor's great-grandfather already managed the farm. Agriculture has always been the main source of income for the family, and it still is today.

In 2014, the two started receiving volunteers from all over the world to help them farm and learn about their way of life. Everyone was very impressed by the location and the principles of agricultural life, so Gregor and Monika decided to welcome guests to their farm and give them the opportunity to be part of their story for a few days. So in 2017 they opened their glamping.

The wooden huts made of local wood are located in close proximity to the lively organic farm - with a beautiful view of the village with the church and the mountains behind and the farm animals all around. The interior of the cabins is built of wood, giving a warm, cozy feeling. There is a natural wooden pool, a variety of small recreation spots on the farm, organic food from the family and organic beer brewed by the hosts.

Each cabin has a small kitchenette with basic equipment. There is also a shared outdoor kitchen. The only apartment located in the yard has an indoor kitchen.

The vision of the owners is to give their guests the opportunity to spend time on the farm during the day as well. In the next few years they want to build a wooden house with a living room, playroom and a seating area where food and drinks can be tasted. They are already building new wooden play equipment for the children every year.

Sustainable

ArchitectureMost of the huts are made from their own wood, the rest from local wood. A lot of old wood was also processed.

FoodAt the Organic Farm there is always a seasonal, local, organic breakfast (90% of the food comes from the farm itself), the food waste goes to the animals. Vegetarian, vegan or allergy-friendly dishes are also available.

The farm employs many local people who are passionate about the food and the environment. The owners also support charitable organizations and people in need time and again.

EnvironmentThe farm uses solar energy, heating with wood chips from its own wood, also waste wood, and irrigation from rain and waste water. In addition, all cleaning products are organic and paper and food are recycled from the animals. The outdoor places of the animals (chickens, rabbits, goats, sheep, cows, pigs, cattle) are constantly being revised so that guests can also experience them better. The hosts also try every year to improve the variety and sustainability of the vegetable and flower gardens.

Well-BeingThe property features a natural wood pool where guests can relax.
