Oliva Azzurra comprises three holiday apartments, each capturing the magic of Liguria in its own unique way.
In the Appartamento Canneto Soprano, the view from the small roof terrace stretches far across the evergreen Val Prino down to the sea. On clear winter days, Corsica can even be seen in the distance. In summer, guests can relax in the shade of the small carrugio (alley) in front of the house, in the heart of a historic hamlet where narrow lanes, ancient walls, and stories from bygone eras intertwine.
The Appartamento Casa Franco opens onto the romantic carrugi and the historic houses opposite. Here, one feels as if in a still film scene – surrounded by stone, history, and the quiet everyday life of the village. The highlight is the two very large roof terraces with views of the surrounding hills of Val Prino and its small mountain villages. Appartamento Aria is located in another quiet hamlet (Praelo) of Val Prino, in a nearly detached corner house on the small, peaceful Piazzetta. From the roof terrace, an unparalleled view opens up over the rooftops of Praelo, olive groves, and Dolcedo, all the way to the sparkling Mediterranean Sea. In all three apartments, carefully restored original elements blend seamlessly with modern details. Much was renovated and lovingly integrated by local craftspeople – sustainably, with high quality, and with an eye for beauty. The host couple fell in love with Liguria after many trips: with the landscape, which quickly transitions from the sea to the Maritime Alps, with the people, and with the rich cultural life. Guests can look forward to small discoveries – from swimming in the nearby natural pools to botanical gardens on the coast, great hiking trails, traditional village festivals and spontaneous art events.

The holiday apartments are located in historic houses, some over 300 years old, exhibiting typical features of Ligurian architecture, often built directly on rock. The staggered construction of these small hamlets, resulting from centuries of expansion, lends the rooms an individual and distinctive layout. The buildings are constructed of local natural stone, some of which remains exposed, providing natural insulation through stone walls up to one meter thick. To preserve the "breathability" of these walls, additional insulation is omitted. Modern energy-saving measures sometimes conflict with the preservation of the historic fabric: For example, solar panels are not permitted on the roof of the smaller apartment, yet 20 mm of roof insulation, combined with modern infrared heating, provides above-average insulation. The larger apartment, on the other hand, has a photovoltaic system. All apartments are equipped with new double-glazed windows. The furnishings focus on functionality, quality, and durability, using materials such as lime paint, stoneware, and natural wood. Old furniture was lovingly restored or refurbished by hand, and regional craft businesses and manufacturers were consciously supported.
All apartments are powered by 100% renewable energy from the regional provider Iren in Liguria. Waste separation has long been a daily practice, and clear information on this is available in the apartments. Only environmentally friendly, biodegradable cleaning products are used. Upon check-in, guests receive personalized recommendations for small, mostly family-run shops and restaurants in the area. These offer fresh, regional products, support local jobs, and are often easily accessible on foot or by bicycle.
Guests can book private yoga lessons with hosts Sandra and Jörn, both certified yoga teachers. Host Sandra also offers holistic health coaching in individual sessions. For dog owners, nutritional advice is available upon request to support their pets' mineral balance.
