Constant waves, endless sandy beaches and lots of nature - the o soño in the bay of Valdoviño in Spanish Galicia is a paradise for surfers.
The guest house has an unobstructed view of the sea and you can already check the surfability of the waves at breakfast. From every corner of the garden you can see the sea and the rugged coast, and you can take beautiful panoramic cliff walks directly from the house. The o soño is the only house on the street, next door there is only a garden plot on the right and left. And best of all: the sun sinks into the sea right in front of the house.
The hosts Debo and Christian live all year round in the house under the roof. The two lived in Andalusia for four years and worked in a surf camp, but they always wanted their own small guesthouse, where they consistently only offer vegan food and live with and in nature. During one of their vacations, they drove to Germany via Portugal and Galicia in a van and immediately fell in love with the wild and beautiful nature and the many bays of Galicia. The area has not yet been developed very much for tourism, the line-ups for surfing are still quite empty and you can do endless hikes along the cliffs or to countless waterfalls. The house was built in 1995 and was bought and renovated by the two in April 2021.
The interior of the house is simple, stylish and designed with natural materials, organic cotton, maritime elements and beautiful pastel colors. The large garden invites you to relax and offers a view of the bay.

ArchitectureDebo and Christian try to buy all wooden furniture from European FSC-grown wood. Any work they couldn't do themselves was done by local contractors.
FoodThe food at o soño is seasonal, organic and from their own garden, or if purchased, also from the health food store. All granola ingredients, nuts, seeds etc come from an organic supplier in bulk paper packs. There is no food waste, everything is either eaten or reused. The rest goes in the compost. Incidentally, the food in the guesthouse is purely plant-based and is made in-house. For example, you can get zucchini tartar with pesto and nasturtium served on garden tomato carpaccio, as well as handmade ricotta and beetroot ravioli or crème brûlée. There is also an all-day breakfast bar, with homemade granola and a lunch box that is freshly prepared in the morning. In the evening there is a three-course menu or specials such as pizza from the wood-fired oven.
EnvironmentDebo and Christian upcycle a lot for decoration. You have your own compost and well. Cleaning products are homemade from orange peel and vinegar or biodegradable products are used. For the stove they use local wood from a family-run wood trade. The two also regularly organize beach clean-ups, to which guests are cordially invited. They also donate to various environmental groups such as Sea Shepherd (for which the two worked as volunteers in Mexico), Share a Meal or WWF. In the future, Debo and Christian want to set up a small community to exchange organic vegetables and fruit, keep the beach clean and thus raise awareness of sustainability and the environment in the region.
Well-BeingThere are daily yoga sessions in our own yoga shala on pine wood floors or on the outdoor terrace with sea views.
