Moulin Moulin

Dannes, Hauts-de-France, France

The mill (French: Moulin) is said to have existed here for over 500 years and was in the family's possession for generations. The “Moulin Moulin” is now located in a beautiful park with a lake and the same watermill. You can hear birds chirping everywhere. The house with its four rooms and an apartment has been open to guests all year round since 2022.

The hosts Nicolas and Jérémy have many exciting and sustainable plans to further expand their small boutique B&B. During the previous renovations, old furniture and tiles were repeatedly found and given a new shine. The rooms are named after the grandmothers of the two owners - tradition is important to them. You want to preserve the spirit of the building and at the same time stylishly modernize it. Like curators of an exhibition, they worked with color maps for visualization and tried to create the perfect balance of old and new. And they succeeded brilliantly. Lots of natural materials, cellular tiles in the new bathrooms, cool lamps and warm colors such as sage, mustard yellow or terracotta ensure coziness. The warmth of the hosts creates the perfect feel-good atmosphere.

This place is suitable for everyone who loves being close to nature and doesn't want to miss out on stylish comfort. The nearest beach is only three kilometers away. And there are lots of exciting excursion destinations along the so-called Opal Coast, which was named after the color of the water. If you even want to leave this enchanting place. In the morning there is not only an excellent breakfast, but every evening a varied selection of small dishes for an aperitif, which you can enjoy relaxing on the terrace. More France is not possible.

Sustainable

ArchitectureDuring the renovation, the roofs were replaced for better acoustics and insulation. For the furnishings, antiques and existing family furniture were used or beautiful wooden furniture was reprocessed.

FoodAll breakfast is homemade. The bread comes from the local baker. The regional ingredients are mostly from sustainable agriculture, such as the cheese, juice and honey. There is homemade jam and eggs from the free-range chickens, which of course also get the food scraps that don't end up in the compost.

EnvironmentThe whole house is heated by a biomass boiler that completely replaces fossil fuel oil. The waste is separated and recycled. The household cleaning products are from the cult brand Savon de Marseille and made from 100% natural and biodegradable ingredients.
