Morphosis, the guest house of Patrícia Magalhães, is located in a rural idyll in the Portuguese Douro Valley, embedded between vineyards and the alleys of the lovely village of Celeirós do Douro.
She is a wine and olive oil producer and the hostess of this little paradise. The idea behind Morphosis is to immortalize memories and experience the Douro Valley in the simplest and most authentic way.
Patrícia checks each guest in personally, takes her vacationers to visit her vineyard, which is about two kilometers from the house, and tastes the fine wines. She bought and restored the house at the end of 2018 and opened it in 2020.
The house is typical of the area and is built in the local Douro style. Each of the rooms is different, but all are furnished with rustic elements and designed with great attention to detail. Neutral tones, slate color and lots of wood create a cozy atmosphere.

ArchitectureMorphosis is a typical Douro house that has been restored according to World Heritage regulations. The whole structure is original and the materials are slate, wood and iron. For architectural and sustainability reasons, Patrícia did not install air conditioning. The insulation of the house is therefore quite efficient.
FoodWhile there is no restaurant, the ingredients used for the welcome breakfast or picnics are seasonal, local and homemade where possible. Meals can also be organized upon prior request and subject to availability. Vegetarian and vegan dishes as well as intolerances are of course taken into account.
Patrícia donates a small portion of her earnings to a local organization.
EnvironmentIn 2021, the Morphosis brand obtains Biosphere Sustainable Lifestyle certification for compliance with actions consistent with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations Agenda 2030: Renewable Energy (Hydro), Waste Separation, Zero Waste Policy, Eco -Cleaning products, water flow reducers, organic and plastic-free bathroom products and fixtures, and other measures. Patrícia also does not use herbicides in her field and also takes other sustainability measures in production. For example, the glass packaging is currently lighter and it does not use plastic in the packaging process.
