Hotel

MOMA1890

München, Bavaria, Germany

This boutique hotel with 51 individually designed rooms is located in the beautiful Haidhausen district of Munich. The hotel was built in 1890 under the name Stadt Rosenheim and has been family-owned ever since, now even in the fourth generation. In November 2021, after extensive renovation work, the house was renamed "MOMA1890 Boutique Hotel" and has reinvented itself.

The tasteful rooms are elegant and modern with a successful mix of floral wallpaper, Vitra and Eames design classics, rich colors and modern hotel comfort. Overall, the hotel is very personal - many regular guests like to sit together in the cozy "Moma Lounge". The lounge is sort of the heart of the hotel. Here you can chat, work or rest. There is everything from coffee to champagne. Be it to recharge your batteries for the evening after a stroll through the city or to have an aperitif before dinner. Here you can sit together and enjoy the cozy and stylish city oasis.

The view of Orleansplatz - and in good weather even as far as the Alps - combines everything that makes Munich so special. It is a modern city for culture enthusiasts and at the same time it is as tranquil and close to nature as in a charming small town. The area around the hotel, with its close proximity to the English Garden, the Isar and many museums, is worth a trip at any time of the year and a successful mix for a relaxed city trip in your new favorite hotel.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe building from 1890 has been constantly renewed and renovated, always focusing on the longevity and quality of the materials and designs and not on interchangeable hotel furnishings that look old again after a few years.

FoodThe food for breakfast comes from local and regional producers such as Wagner's fruit and vegetables, coffee from DINZLER on the Irschenberg, tea specialities from BIOTEAQUE from Tegernsee, eggs from Brandhuber farmers from Erding, sausage from the Boneberger butcher's shop in Schongau.

EnvironmentThe solar system on the roof ensures climate-neutral air conditioning and electricity generation, the natural care products from l'Occitane are replenished and the naturally degradable cleaning products from BePure have proven their worth, as has the central bar instead of individual power-guzzling minibars in each room.

Testimonials

This hotel was a run-of-the-mill place to stay - until 2010 that is, when the owners took back control, handed the lease holding to Wolfgang Schlicht, whose career includes stints at Carlton Tower and the Ritz in London. A real one-off; the hotel succeeds in mixing tradition and modern design.
