Tiny House

Minimalus Dachsenhausen

Dachsenhausen, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany

Small house, big holiday feeling: in Dachsenhausen in the Rhein-Lahn district, nature-loving minimalists will find a lot of comfort in a small space. In the Tiny House Minimalus you live in the middle of a beautifully manicured natural garden. Host Marius built the wooden house in the garden of his parents' house entirely himself. "The idea of making sustainable living possible with innovative design in a small space has fascinated me for a long time, which is why I decided to study sustainable construction. This tiny house was created as part of my master's thesis. Originally I had planned to sell it afterwards - but when it was finished I couldn't part with it. By renting it out, I want to give my guests the opportunity to get to know life in a tiny house and get them excited about the topics of sustainability, regional products and minimalism," says Marius.

His parents supported his plans from the start. “The Tiny House was created as a family project. Since it was finished, I have been taking care of our guests together with my parents Ute and Horst. At the same time, I'm already working on other projects. My second tiny house in the neighboring town of Dessighofen is already finished,” says Marius. The idea of sustainability runs through the whole house: he has cleverly combined ecological, recyclable building materials with used elements. The result: a light-flooded, minimalistic-chic and at the same time cozy little piece of jewelry that you would like to take home with you.

The Tiny House is 20 square meters and therefore perfect for two people. The ground floor has a bright, friendly living room, a fully equipped kitchen with a panoramic window and a dining area, and a high-quality bathroom. A wooden staircase leads to the sleeping area, through whose skylight you can see the starry sky at night. There are two more sleeping options in the construction trailer right next to the Tiny House: in summer you can get to know sleeping close to nature thanks to the panoramic opening.

Sustainable

ArchitectureAs an engineer for sustainable construction, Marius built the Tiny House 2020 from regional wood as part of his master's thesis. Typical for wooden houses, the use of the natural material creates a pleasant, comfortable room climate. Due to the generous windows in all directions, the bright interior appears much larger than you would expect from the outside. Marius has skilfully built a bridge between modern design and comfort in a small space: light colors meet solid wood, the parquet floor, the wooden windows and some furniture were bought second-hand. Marius built other pieces of furniture himself.

EnvironmentThe Tiny House consists mainly of wood. As an energy-efficient, renewable and recyclable building material, wood stores the CO2 absorbed by the trees in the long term and is therefore significantly more climate and environmentally friendly than concrete. With the installation of a used parquet floor and used windows as well as the purchase of some second-hand furniture, Marius shows that the sustainable raw material should still be used in a resource-saving manner. Ecological wood fiber insulation protects against excessive heat in summer and, together with a pellet heating system, ensures cozy warmth in winter. Only ecological cleaning agents are used. Kitchen waste can be composted in the garden.
