With the Matador Lodges, a retreat has been created for all those for whom peace, design and privacy is the true luxury. The design and boutique hotel was opened in 2021 by the Imdahl family. She developed the Matador Lodges and runs the hotel today - a real family business.
The unique architectural interplay of the various Tiny Houses with the apartments in the historic villa in the park-like complex convinces design lovers all along the line. Plus: The skilful mix of the spaciousness and privacy of a holiday apartment and the amenities of a hotel adds even more to the holiday feeling.
In addition to the premises, the location also makes a name for itself. With the Chiemsee and the Chiemgau Alps right around the corner, this is absolutely perfect for anyone who likes to be out in nature. Strictly speaking, you don't even have to get out of bed to be in the middle of nature: from the tree house, which is five meters high, you can see the treetops and over the entire hotel grounds, from the other cottages and apartments guests can enjoy a view of the park-like facility with a natural pond.
The current location of the Matador Lodges was once the headquarters of the world-famous fashion brand "Windsurfing Chiemsee", whose maker and designer is Martin Imdahl. After selling the company he created the fashion brand Matador and decided to expand his talents beyond the textile industry - thus the Matador Lodges were born.

ArchitectureDuring the construction of the tiny houses, particular care was taken to carefully integrate them into the rural environment and to use wood as the building material for the most part. During the restoration of the villa, too, the use of natural insulating materials such as wood fiber turned a historical building into an energy-efficient house. In addition, regional materials were used as far as possible for the renovation of the existing buildings and for the construction of the cottages, and craftsmen from the region were consulted. In order to make the interior of the Matador Lodges sustainable, furniture from the former Matador Shops, among other things, was upcycled.
FoodBreakfast at the Matador Lodges consists exclusively of local products. To avoid unnecessary food waste, there is no breakfast buffet. Instead, each guest gets a set breakfast table.
EnvironmentThe beds in the Matador Lodges are made from COCO-MAT and 100% natural materials, as are the bed linen and towels. In the bathroom you will find the natural cosmetics from Saint Charles. And even the cleaning of the rooms is carried out using a micro dry steam device in an environmentally friendly and chemical-free manner. The Imdahl family also supports the “Plant For The Planet” reforestation project. The CO2 consumption of the guests is compensated by planting new trees. Every stay in the Matador Lodges is therefore climate-neutral. All of this is communicated via the website, the digital guest directory and social media.
Well-BeingAll guests can book the Spa Cube with sauna for a private time slot. After the sauna or on hot summer days, the in-house natural pond invites you to cool down. Massage treatments can be booked on request.
