Maison Groleau sits atop a hill overlooking vast vineyards in France. The estate, family-owned since 1852, has been established as a winery for generations. Since 2022, it has also operated as a bed and breakfast, welcoming guests – while host Guillaume's sister continues to produce wine on-site. This house is not a hotel. It is a home away from home where guests can experience peace, warmth, and hospitality.
The garden with its centuries-old trees, the iconic view of the windmills, and the pool create a tranquil, natural setting. At the heart of the house is the "table d'hôtes," a communal dinner where guests enjoy a surprise menu inspired by the hosts' many travels in Asia and paired with the family's wines.
The accommodation's interior is eclectic: family heirlooms meet design classics, second-hand furniture meets travel souvenirs and art. Each room is individually designed without losing sight of the overall theme – with a harmonious color palette and cozy textures that complement the light and the spaciousness of the 19th century.
Maison Groleau offers all the amenities for a relaxing stay: food, drinks, bicycles, a swimming pool, and massage services. At the same time, the house invites guests to explore the surrounding area: the Vauban Citadel (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the prehistoric Pair-non-Pair cave, the Terre d'Oiseaux nature park, the city of Bordeaux, and the Dune du Pilat, Europe's highest sand dune, are all located nearby.

Maison Groleau is a historic house with thick, old stone walls that naturally regulate the indoor climate. The walls have been extensively insulated, and the windows and doors have been upgraded from single to double glazing. In the gardens, the owners have cultivated Mediterranean plants that require little water, using their own well water for irrigation.
Seasonal, local cuisine takes center stage. All dishes are prepared in-house – with the exception of the bread, which comes from a renowned local bakery. The menu is complemented by vegetables and fruits from the restaurant's own garden, while organic waste is used for composting. The cuisine offers a modern interpretation of traditional French dishes, drawing inspiration from Asian cooking techniques, spices, and recipes. Dinner is served as a surprise menu: guests can simply sit back and trust that they will discover new flavors.
The house uses solar energy and offers an electric vehicle charging station for guests. Waste is consistently separated and organic compost is produced, in line with a zero-waste approach. The accommodation also relies on organic and natural products for personal care, and cleaning is largely done with high-temperature steam to minimize the use of cleaning agents.
For relaxation, the accommodation offers various massages, including classic full-body massages and reflexology. The wellness offerings are complemented by the pool, which invites guests to swim and relax.
