Just eight kilometers from the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the East Frisian Wadden Sea Coast, and surrounded by the near-natural golf course of the Schloss Lütetsburg golf course, you can imagine the fascinating expanse of the East Frisian landscape in the tree houses of the Lütetsburg Lodges.
Living in the middle of the holiday region of East Friesland offers guests a special experience of peace and seclusion in nature, where fox, badger and deer can say good morning in the forest landscape. The high-quality tree house lodges were opened in summer 2019 after almost 6 years of planning and construction.
The owner Tido Graf zu Inn- and Knyphausen had the dream of sleeping in a tree house or building one himself. He has now fulfilled this childhood dream with these three exceptionally designed tree houses. The idea behind it is to be able to offer golfers but also all other interested guests in the holiday region East Frisia a high-quality, nature-loving accommodation.
In the meantime, in addition to the tree houses, an old farmhouse for vacation rental and an old apartment on the outer bailey of Lütetsburg Palace have been renovated and prepared. The aim is to create a special destination for those seeking relaxation from Lütetsburg in the future.

ArchitectureThe three tree houses, Voss (fox), Dacks (badger) and Reei (roe deer) were designed by the renowned tree house architect Andreas Wenning and with their open living and dining area and large light windows ensure that you can experience the surrounding nature up close. The lodges take up the outer forms of the original Frisian houses. Treehouses as a holiday home offer could be implemented for the first time in East Frisia with the Lütetsburg Lodges by Tido Graf zu Inn- and Knyphausen. Most of the work was covered by regional providers. The wood used is exclusively FSC wood from Germany. The intention to live sustainability holistically can also be seen in the fact that the buildings were almost entirely made of wood (except for the stand and the roof). The style of the furnishings is modern and minimalist, with much of the furniture made from residual wood from the tree houses.
FoodGuests can enjoy seasonal and varied dishes in the park café and the Schatthuus restaurant, which is in the immediate vicinity. In addition to vegetarian cuisine, for example, guests are offered regional wild meat from their own territory in the “Park Shop” of the Lütetsburg Lodges. The fully equipped built-in kitchens (induction hobs, oven, dishwasher, coffee machine) in each of the tree house lodges also offer guests the opportunity to take care of themselves during their stay.
Only employees from the East Frisia region are employed to support the social welfare of the region. In addition, the operators of the Lütetsburg Lodges support various tree planting campaigns by school classes and groups of local residents. In the future, guests can also take part in tree planting themselves, a certificate will also be handed out.
EnvironmentSustainability plays a major role: The houses were largely made of PEFC-certified, local wood. The heating system is powered by a geothermal heat pump and the operators of the Lütetsburg Lodges plant a tree for each booking. The coffee capsules in the kitchen are compostable, and care is also taken to separate them carefully. Ecologically compatible cleaning agents from Sonett ensure cleanliness. Electric golf carts are on the premises.
Well-BeingThere is an osteopath and a fitness center in the immediate vicinity. Guests can also enjoy other sporting activities, such as tennis, in the surrounding area.
