Apartment

Lieblingseck

Gstadt am Chiemsee, Bavaria, Germany

The holiday apartment “Lieblingseck” is surrounded by the beautiful Bavarian Alps and in the immediate vicinity of Lake Chiemsee. Host Eduard Lorentz was looking for a property on Lake Chiemsee for a long time, found it in 2016 and completed the house with the charming holiday apartment in 2021 according to his own planning and with great attention to detail.

With the aspect of overall sustainability in mind, the house was built from low-pollutant, environmentally friendly and natural materials with the involvement of local craft businesses. It is therefore currently of a very high standard technically and energetically. Thanks to the PV system and intelligent battery storage, the house produces more than twice as much energy as it consumes. The holiday apartment was designed and equipped as a “smart home”.

However, it is not only sustainable, but also really aesthetic and comfortable. The modern, light-flooded rooms were furnished with design classics and furniture from Art Nouveau and Biedermeier. In addition to the beautiful furnishings, the apartment also used a wide variety of materials. Among other things, exposed concrete, linoleum and concrete filler floors, travertine, as well as Corian, solid wood, stainless steel and mineral casting were used - these materials give the rooms a uniqueness and liveliness. In addition to great design, the accommodation also has a fully equipped kitchen, which is great for cooking.

Sustainable

ArchitectureRegional craft businesses were preferably involved in the construction of the house.

FoodIf available, guests can share in the output of the hosts' garden and greenhouse. Compost waste goes into the worm composter, the humus yield of which goes back into the salad and vegetables. In addition, each guest receives a little something “homemade” to take with them on the way home.

EnvironmentThe house relies on environmentally friendly measures in various areas. Energy is generated by a PV system with intelligent battery storage, which generates around 11,500 kWh annually. Impressively, the home's total energy consumption is only around 5,000 kWh per year, which is less than 50% of the energy produced. Both the house itself and the methods used to generate and save energy almost offset the carbon footprint. Plus: In addition to the brine geothermal heating, which can also cool, the air in the building is exchanged up to 18 times a day thanks to the central ventilation system, with a connected heat exchanger and 95% heat recovery. When it comes to waste separation, great importance is placed on recycling. Plastic, glass, paper, compost and residual waste are separated. To reduce packaging waste, guests receive a jute shopping bag upon arrival as well as paper bags for fruit and vegetable purchases. The water supply for the garden and the greenhouse is environmentally conscious using rainwater from a cistern. The accommodation also focuses on sustainability when it comes to water consumption by using water-saving fittings. Furthermore, the cleaning and cosmetic products used are as environmentally friendly as possible - biodegradable, vegan and free of microplastics.
