Le Beau Pierre is a roughly 150-year-old natural stone house in southwestern France, nestled in a green, gentle hilly landscape away from the classic tourist routes.
Surrounded by meadows, fields, and mature trees, the house offers sweeping views of nature from almost every corner: palm trees, rolling hills, small villages, and, on a clear day, even the church steeple of a distant town. The sunsets are particularly atmospheric and can be enjoyed from the house and even from the freestanding bathtub.
The house was acquired by an international family with American, Canadian, British, and German roots and designed as a personal retreat for family, friends, and guests. The idea was to create a place that is high-quality yet relaxed, family-friendly, and personal.
The interior design combines warm playful colours, natural materials, vintage finds, and carefully selected modern furniture. Alana, a professional photographer, is responsible for the interior, having designed each room with a keen eye for light, atmosphere, and details. This results in a house that is simultaneously stylish, inviting, and uncomplicated. The children's room, with its bunk beds, vibrant colors, and playful elements, received particular attention.
Le Beau Pierre offers plenty of space with four bedrooms, several living areas, and a large property with four hectares of private land. Books, games, wellies for morning walks, and casual encounters with local neighbors all contribute to the relaxed, personal atmosphere.
The region is also ideal for excursions: Saint-Émilion, the Dordogne Valley, and Bordeaux are easily accessible, as are smaller wineries, markets, and villages in the surrounding area. Depending on the season, sunflower fields, the grape harvest, truffle markets, or long summer evenings shape the local experience.

A distinctive feature of the house is its large, characterful windows, which flood the rooms with light and bring the landscape indoors. In the coming years, these will be carefully modernized with double glazing, while consciously preserving their form and original style. Wherever possible, local craftspeople from the Lot-et-Garonne region were involved in the renovations. Even the welcome baskets for guests reflect this regional focus, containing exclusively products from small producers and artisans in the surrounding area.
To make your stay as pleasant and uncomplicated as possible, the pantry is already stocked with selected basic foodstuffs such as good olive oil, pasta, rice, spices, and coffee. Guests will also find a welcome basket containing a bottle of regional Côtes-du-Marmandais wine and a selection of products from local producers and artisans. This is complemented by a comprehensive regional guide highlighting markets and producers in the area, including the weekly market in Marmande on Saturdays, the market in Duras on Mondays, as well as various farms, cheese dairies, and restaurants.
Personalized on-site service is provided by the local concierge, Christine, who lives in the area and personally welcomes each guest. She gives a thorough introduction to the property and is available as a direct contact person throughout your stay. As a familiar face at Le Beau Pierre, she knows not only the property but also the surrounding area very well and is happy to share recommendations for the region. All booking and management of the accommodation is also handled through her company, ensuring personal and straightforward service.
Two solar panels provide the house with hot water, and a compost heap was set up immediately after the property was acquired. Waste is consistently separated and recycled, and the house uses environmentally friendly care and cleaning products as well as sustainable toilet paper. The expansive, four-hectare grounds are also managed with biodiversity in mind: pesticides are avoided, and parts of the meadows are intentionally allowed to grow naturally to create habitats for plants and animals. Upon arrival, guests receive a guide with information about the house's sustainable concept, including details on the solar hot water system, rainwater harvesting, waste separation, and simple tips on how to keep the house pleasantly cool in the summer using traditional French methods.
The property boasts a spacious outdoor area, encouraging guests to spend much of their time outdoors. From late spring to early autumn, a private, unheated pool is available, providing a refreshing dip, especially on warm summer days. The house itself is intentionally designed as a screen-free environment, with no television, but a selection of books, board games, and plenty of outdoor space as the primary focus. Paths lead directly from the property across the four-hectare private grounds into the surrounding woods and nature.
