La Vrille

Verrayes, Valle d'Aosta, Italy

When you open your eyes in the morning at the La Vrille guesthouse, you'll gaze upon green hills, snow-capped peaks, and the rich blue sky—and immediately sense that the world is still in order here. Surrounded by steep vineyards, alpine herbs, and hiking trails, this house invites you to pause for a moment.

Located in the small village of Verrayes, nestled in the mountains of the Aosta Valley, lies this charming guesthouse, a place where time seems to pass more slowly. The historic house was renovated by the family in 1999 and, in the year of the solar eclipse, was given the sun as its logo. Since 2024, daughter Virginie has been taking care of guests alongside her mother. They believe in genuine hospitality and the beauty of simplicity.

The rooms are individually designed and always in keeping with the traditional architecture. Instead of a stylish coolness, there is a warm, homely atmosphere reminiscent of a lovingly crafted and simple farmhouse. The furnishings follow no trend, but rather a desire to preserve something timeless. Here, sustainability is understood not as a concept, but as a way of life.

Whether enjoying breakfast with homemade jam and bread from the farmer next door, chatting with your host about regional culture, or sipping a glass of wine in the garden, a stay at La Vrille is an invitation to rediscover your connection with nature. A place of peace and tranquility – simply perfect for switching off and taking a deep breath.

Sustainable

Architecture

The building dates back to the 18th century and has been lovingly renovated according to bio-architectural principles. Local materials such as larch wood from the neighboring village and stone from the surrounding area contribute to its authentic charm. Each room tells its own story through antique doors, hand-embroidered furniture, and restored furniture.

Food

Breakfast is a feast of regional flavors: homemade yogurt, pastries made with organic flour, cheeses from small farms, honey, and local apple juice. Cold platters with local specialties are also available upon request—everything seasonally, consciously, and lovingly prepared.

Environment

Thanks to solar and photovoltaic systems, the house is virtually energy self-sufficient in terms of electricity and hot water. Linens are dried in the sun, waste is separated, and food waste is avoided through composting. Charging stations for electric cars are soon to follow, and more shade-providing plants will be planted.
