La Roucoulade

Ventabren, Provence, France

For many, Provence is the epitome of France - fragrant lavender fields, green vineyards, beautiful little towns with markets, restaurants and charming alleys.

La Roucoulade is located at the foot of the typical Provençal village of Ventabren, very close to Aix-en-Provence. Clémence Roux has been lovingly welcoming her guests here since 2021. The building from 1875 was previously extensively restored and converted and can now be booked exclusively.

The tasteful interior is eclectic - a successful mix of strong wall colors, vintage furniture, colorful floor tiles and modern decoration. The house has two entrances and there are various rental options: you can book an apartment for up to five people all year round or rent the entire house for up to fifteen people in the high season. The large house definitely offers enough space, sleeping accommodations and privacy. Clémence ensures an even more pleasant stay with her concierge service. No matter what you need – babysitter, swimming coach or florist – she knows what to do.

The beautiful garden with frog pond, hammocks, pool and view of the historic mill invites you to linger. On the terrace with pergola there is a large table for spending evenings together under the vines. Anyone who loves French cuisine will find it in the neighborhood. There is a very good star restaurant just five minutes away. You can't really enjoy the French way of life in a more relaxed way.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe house with the old, thick stone walls usually ensures sufficient cooling in summer. The air conditioning for particularly hot days is operated via a heat pump.

FoodIf you wish, you can have picnic baskets filled with regional delicacies or help yourself to the vegetable patch in the garden.

Clémence is a shareholder in an inclusive restaurant in Paris (Le Reflet) that employs people with Down syndrome. In addition, she donates one percent of her sales annually to charity.

EnvironmentWaste separation and composting are a given here. The filtered water is intended to avoid purchasing plastic bottles. All refillable cleaning and hygiene products are biodegradable. And there is a vegetable garden for guests.
