Ulla and Eberhard have been living in Teolo for over 20 years and were able to acquire a piece of land bordering their garden some time ago. In September 2016, the construction of their unique wooden house with guest rooms, steam bath and Ulla's ceramic workshop in the basement was completed and the B&B La Mugletta was opened.
According to the motto: "La Mugletta - more than just a stay" they want to offer their guests a holiday experience that is more than "just" a pleasant overnight stay with a good breakfast. It starts with the extraordinary architecture of the house and continues with an emphasis on sustainability at all levels and the close proximity to nature. This place should invite you to relax and develop creative leisure.
There are many winegrowers in this culinary and culturally rich region who offer guided tours and wine tastings. Medieval Venetian villas are hidden in the hills that can be visited, and over the centuries countless writers and poets have lived or written in the area. And by train or car it is just under an hour to such important cities as Venice or Verona.
You can find the hosts' favourite recipe to try in the kitchen whispers.

ArchitectureThe large wooden house has clear lines and yet somehow seems moved. It is partly on pillars and only at second glance is the special shape recognizable. The roof ridge is twisted in itself, which results in unexpected shapes and lines from the outside and inside. The 80 sqm salotto flows smoothly into the terrace when the patio door is completely open. Even if the huge glass doors are closed, the room is directly connected to the surrounding nature. The house is largely built from natural and regional materials. Wood, cement and iron would have to be completely recyclable. It also has energy class A thanks to excellent insulation.
FoodFor breakfast, host Ulla presents eggs from her own chickens, fruits and vegetables from her own garden and other ecological and regional products in La Mugletta. Her specialty is homemade cakes, including vegan and gluten-free varieties. In general, every guest is asked about food allergies or intolerances about a week before arrival, so that Ulla can specifically address this when planning their meal.
The operators of La Mugletta organize concerts, wine tastings or other events at irregular intervals. Some of the proceeds from this benefit a non-profit organization.
EnvironmentAll possible food waste gets chickens and / or donkeys to eat. The rest, like other waste, is strictly separated and recycled. For heating and hot water and the often necessary cooling of the house in Italy, fossil fuels are dispensed with and geothermal energy is used instead. Thanks to triple-glazed windows, only economical consumption is required. The electrical appliances in the kitchen are also as energy-saving as possible. The rainwater is collected to water the organic vegetable and orchard. And ecological cleaning agents and a steam cleaner are used throughout for disinfection. A photovoltaic system is still being planned to become self-sufficient in terms of energy. La Mugletta hosts information and organization events to protect the toads that migrate twice a year in the area.
Well-BeingIn addition to the lush garden with resting places and the cozy salotto with fireplace for relaxation, there is also a steam room including a relaxation room on La Mugletta. If desired, a Shiatsu treatment can also be booked with an external expert. Hostess Ulla, on the other hand, is an expert in creative and contemplative work with the “earth”, the potter. It offers ceramic courses or lessons for interested guests.
