La Geria

Lanzarote, Canary Islands, Spain

Spectacular, starry nights await you at La Geria and during the day you can see wild geese, owls and falcons.

La Geria is a traditional Canarian farmhouse, located on the side of one of the largest volcanoes in the Geria, the wine region of Lanzarote. From here you can enjoy a sensational 360-degree view over Lanzarote to the Famara cliff, the Timanfaya National Park and the sensational lunar landscape of the island.

The house has been stylishly designed with love, care and attention. The decor of colonial iron and glass lamps, various silk materials, Victorian baths, Arabic tiles from old Andalusian patios and vaulted, volcanic ceilings creates an exquisite and special atmosphere. La Geria was tastefully restored 10 years ago in its traditional Canarian style, using original materials and other antique furnishings.

The house is surrounded by a large garden with fertile trees and vines planted in terraces in traditional Canarian style. There is an outdoor courtyard with comfortable furniture that is ideal for an outdoor siesta for dinner or breakfast, or just to sunbathe while watching the winegrowers care for their vines.

La Geria offers a good starting point for numerous walks and hikes on the island. Some of the best bodegas (wine producing companies) on the island are within walking distance. Despite its remote location in unspoilt countryside, it is only a 5-minute walk to a shop and a Canarian tapas bar.

On the other side of the volcano is the nearest village, Asomada. It is very picturesque, with a wonderful view of Puerto del Carmen, Fuerteventura and the sea. Another advantage of the location is the direct connection to the wine region La Geria and the unique and rare lunar landscape, which was chosen as one of the most beautiful views in Europe and which will be presented in a competition in Strasbourg in 2013.

La Geria is located in the center of the island. Uga and Yaiza are just 5 minutes away and Timanfaya National Park is less than 10 minutes away by car. The airport is around 15 km away. The largest volcanic tube (Cueva de los naturalistas) can be reached in just 7 minutes by car (it is possible to organize a hike inside this cave with a guide).
