The Altes Land near Hamburg is a wonderfully green area - in spring the beautiful cherry blossoms and in autumn the juicy apple harvest attract tourists, migratory birds and even filmmakers to this region. The film “Altes Land” based on the novel of the same name with Iris Berben in the lead role was shot on the picturesque farm.
Hof Sand - a listed thatched roof property from 1780 - is located on a small terp in the middle of the nature reserve directly on the Elbe. The Boysen family of architects bought the listed farm in 2016 and completely renovated it. In the spacious garden there is a pond with ducks, a football goal and a large trampoline.
The “Lindenterrasse” holiday apartment offers enough space for up to 10 people over two floors. The floorboards are over 200 years old and the airy, high rooms with the visible beamed ceilings are reminiscent of the history of the house. The bright kitchen-living room is open to the living room, from here you can access a spacious south-facing terrace. The interior is modern with wooden furniture, tasteful wall colors and matching decorative elements.
The converted sheepfold offers the perfect solution for families who are not only looking for relaxation, but also the possibility of a "workation". In the separate cottage, you can work in a pleasant atmosphere and enjoy the comforts of a holiday at the same time.
Right outside the door lies the green idyll, where the deer graze in the morning at sunrise and the cuckoo calls. From here you can start a sporty, active or a leisurely, relaxing day, depending on your mood, and enjoy your holiday to the fullest.

ArchitectureThe owner, architect and building biologist, has converted the historic building in the spirit of monument protection and healthy living. Due to the increased requirements for thermal insulation, a house was built into the main building, so to speak. This made it possible to comply with monument protection and thermal protection guidelines. As for the windows, the stable doors and the barn door in the former stable were also used as large window areas to let more light into the building. Environmentally friendly materials and wood were used in the expansion.
