Mountain panorama, far-reaching views, fields, sun and a starry sky in the evening - that's what makes Haus Weigt stand out, among other things. The Weigt family, that is Eva and Jonas, rebuilt the house and opened it in July 2022. The house is family-run and the family is also on site as a contact person. The accommodation is a living and meeting place for nature lovers, mountain lovers: inside and especially families with children.
Mariapfarr in Salzburg's Lungau, the place where Haus Weigt is based, is one of the sunniest places in Austria and offers a great infrastructure for families. The Weigt family attached great importance to regionality during the construction and also in the furnishing of the rooms. This proximity to the regional also characterizes the Lungau and that is exactly what they want to pass on to their guests.
Incidentally, the entire Lungau is a biosphere park, there are numerous mountains, valleys and mountain lakes as well as farmed alpine pastures in summer, where regional specialties can be enjoyed directly from the farmer. In summer, numerous events such as Prangtage and Kirtage, folk festivals and marksmen's festivals also attract guests.
A unique feature of the accommodation is the larch wood facade, which stands out from the village from afar. And the interior is also wooden: the architecturally appealing staircase exudes the scent of pine wood as soon as you step on it. The bright and spacious apartments also have large south-facing glass fronts and large loggias on which mild summer evenings can be perfectly enjoyed.
The interior is high-quality and modern with a touch of alpine flair. Eva and Jonas Weigt have chosen a color for each apartment (red, blue and green). They designed the interior in collaboration with a friend of theirs, an interior design company, and a local carpenter. Great value was placed here on the high quality and longevity. Some of the decoration is antique, including heirlooms from Eva, whose father's hobby was to lovingly refurbish old bulky furniture. Other individual pieces come from flea markets or are gifts from friends. For example, there are children's toys that they received from a flea market group in return for a donation.

ArchitectureThe house was designed by the architect in a rather minimalist way, so that the built space is used in the best possible way. When building the house, Austrian companies were used exclusively, mostly companies from the immediate vicinity. Many establishments are less than 5 kilometers from the accommodation. The materials also always came from the surrounding area, if this was possible. The stones for the outdoor area, for example, come from the neighboring quarry in Mauterndorf and the pine wood for the beds also comes directly from the Lungau.
A cleaner from the region is employed in Haus Weigt, wages are above average and working hours are offered based on trust. The family also supports projects such as "Startups for Ukraine" financially and with their own work. The two have brought several families from the Ukraine to Austria and support them on site. They arranged apartments for some of them here in Lungau and helped them look for a job. They also donate regularly.
EnvironmentThere is a PV system on the roof, the owners themselves only use green electricity and the local district heating serves as the heating source. If necessary, the outdoor area is irrigated with rainwater that is stored in a retention basin. During construction, Eva and Jonas made sure that as few areas as possible were fully sealed. They decided on permeable paving stones in front of the house and greened the carport. They also attached great importance to very good insulation and the latest standard in terms of energy-saving electrical devices. The rooms are cleaned with organic detergents and rubbish separators are available in the apartments.
