In "haus und hof" you will encounter modern, simple architecture in its highest quality. When entering, a feeling of calm and deceleration arises - a nice retreat. The apartments feature simple shapes, lots of wood, few other materials and calm colors. All apartments are open plan, let in lots of light and create a pleasant atmosphere. Black elements, which are found in all three holiday apartments, contribute to the simplicity and modern elegance.
When the Mahler family was looking for a multigenerational project with their two children and grandparents, the property literally found them. The location in Hof near Salzburg was perfect - completely quiet and yet close to the city. On the one hand, the immediate nature around you, as well as the proximity to the lake and the mountains, and on the other hand, art and culture in Salzburg are not far away. With her many years of experience in traditional tourism, the host Magdalena Mahler wanted to try something new and enable gentle and sustainable tourism in her home country. For them this means: quality over quantity and a strong regional focus.
The mountains of the Salzkammergut, Schober and Schafberg can already be seen from the holiday apartments. If the weather is good, it is possible to see as far away as the Traunstein. But the best way to enjoy nature is outdoors, hiking, mountain biking, swimming, stand-up paddling, skiing, cross-country skiing or golfing.

Inside, the holiday flats are furnished in a minimalist, Scandinavian style with modern furniture — simple shapes, plenty of wood and calm colours, punctuated by black accents that run through all three flats. Externally, too, the architecture is designed to be understated: rather than imposing itself, the house and courtyard blend into the surrounding landscape of meadows, mountains and the lake. The furniture was bespoke-made by a local joiner to ensure durability and quality, rather than relying on mass-produced items. Local craft businesses were also exclusively used for the construction work itself.
A small welcome pack awaits guests on arrival in all three apartments. It consists of a lovingly curated selection of local delicacies. Herbs and berries grow in raised beds in the garden, which guests are free to help themselves to during their stay.
Heating is provided by geothermal energy from a deep borehole, and each flat has its own electric charging point. When it comes to electricity, Haus und Hof goes one step further: Magdalena is a member of the local energy community — electricity produced in the village stays there. In collaboration with a regional cleaning products manufacturer, personalised cleaning schedules have been developed to save water and cleaning products, and vegan, organic and fair-trade toiletries are provided in the bathrooms.
