Gutshaus Stellshagen

Stellshagen, Baltic Sea, Germany

The Hotel Gutshaus Stellshagen represents a skilful mix of nature, idyll and sustainability. The individual rooms are not only in the manor house, but are spread over the entire site. This gives each room its own character. Depending on the location, guests have a wonderful view of the estate or over the vast landscape of the Klützer Winkel.

The apartments are in the village on the edge of a field and a pond. What all types of accommodation have in common is the feeling of peace and relaxation in boundless nature. They also consist of natural materials and are equipped with solid wood furniture. Stellshagen is a place to relax and slow down, which also includes therapy and wellness offers.

The Hotel Gutshaus Stellshagen was previously in the hands of the Cordes family: the house was built in 1924 by the great-grandfather of Gertrud Cordes. However, the family was expropriated in 1945. Only years later, when Gertrud Cordes was looking for a suitable place for her own naturopathic practice, did the manor house come to mind. She bought it again in 1996 and opened it two years later as a bio and health hotel Stellshagen. Meanwhile, her partner William Nikiel runs the hotel. A lot of time and love is currently being invested in the renovation of the hotel rooms. In order not to disrupt hotel operations, the renovation work is carried out step by step.

You can find the hosts' favourite recipe to try in the kitchen whispers.

Sustainable

ArchitectureWhen renovating the old buildings and building new ones, particular attention was paid to the use of ecological materials such as clay and seaweed as insulation. The floors are tiled with natural stones, planked with wooden floorboards or covered with wool carpets. The entire renovation was carried out in cooperation with regional suppliers, so the many fittings and custom-made pieces of furniture come from a carpenter on site. The furniture in the manor house is made of solid wood and is maintained with chemical-free oil. Most of the furniture was obtained from recognized natural furniture manufacturers, such as Team 7 or Löwe. In addition, synthetic furniture polish and cleaning agents are consistently dispensed with. The areas of the property are hardly sealed, but mulch and gravel are used on the sidewalks.

FoodOur own agriculture, which belongs to the Bioland Association, guarantees the shortest delivery route directly to the hotel kitchen. This enables consistent seasonal and regional cuisine for the guests. In addition, 100% organic quality and exclusively vegetarian dishes are served in the Hotel Gutshaus Stellshagen. A vegetarian buffet is served with all three of the meals on offer, some of which are vegan or gluten-free and lactose-free. Everything the garden has to offer comes in a pot and pan: from hearty German to Mediterranean to exotic Asian. The chefs show every day that a vegetarian diet can not only be tasty and healthy, but also diverse. The baked goods are made in our own bakery. In the apartments, guests also have the opportunity to prepare their own dishes.

The employees deal intensively with the topic of sustainability. Again and again, new ideas are collected and discussed by employees and guests. many of them have already been successfully implemented. The employees work flexibly according to their requirements in a beautiful environment. You get a selection of free drinks, a free meal a day and the opportunity to participate in employee sports and yoga classes. In their free time, the employees can participate in the many hotel offers for the most part free of charge. Social responsibility is lived, which is why primarily locals are employed. Many villagers are also involved in many activities. Socially weak people, for example due to a disability, can fi nd a job at Hotel Gutshof Stellshagen. A raffle is held annually on New Year's Eve, the profits of which are donated to social projects such as a local hospice or an animal shelter. The hotel is also active in refugee aid.

EnvironmentAn environmentally friendly and protective lifestyle is the cornerstone of the concept behind the Hotel Gutshaus Stellshagen. The ecological pro fi le of the house is reflected on all levels: All rooms have been designed with organic building in mind, the energy supply takes sustainability into account and all food and drinks are 100% organic. The hosts are aware of their responsibility towards the environment and culture and strive to offer ecologically justifiable products and services. For example, the heating system was converted to renewable fuels. The base load is taken over by a combined heat and power plant that is fed with rapeseed oil. In the heating season, wood chip heating takes over the heat supply. There is a separate underground supply network between the individual buildings, with which almost all houses can be supplied with heat from the central heating system. Glass, tin, paper, aluminum, printer cartridges and batteries are collected and disposed of separately. When it comes to grocery shopping, people always try to buy in bulk. In order to work holistically sustainably, the entire advertising material is printed ecologically and on 100% recycled paper. Our own compost is used as a fertilizer. Chemistry is deliberately avoided in the natural bathing pond. Instead, there is natural water purification using gravel filters, volcanic rocks and plants in the shallow water zone. The property is also a demonstration and internship company for organic farming, which means that numerous events and tours of the farm pass on knowledge about organic farming and how it is embedded in the hotel structure.

Well-BeingIn the integrated TAO health center, various naturopaths and trained body therapists offer a wide range of naturopathic treatments. Physical wellbeing and relaxation are just as important as preventive health care and the relief of complaints. Western and Eastern naturopathic methods are used. Selected diagnostic procedures and restorative treatments as well as many well-being massages support body, soul and spirit to regain their balance. The sauna house is right next to the health center. It houses two saunas with different temperatures. The unheated natural swimming pond at the house rounds off the sauna sessions.

Testimonials
