Living in an old manor house in the Uckermark with a fireplace room, living room, manor house kitchen and library. There is a park around it through which the wind and at the same time the breath of history blows.
The Friedensfelde manor house is a sustainably renovated ensemble with cultural aspirations. The hosts Annedore Streyl and Thomas Rieger bought the manor house in 2019 in a state that was in great need of renovation. The building from 1742 once housed not only the director of Frederick II's Royal Court Opera, but also his son, the romantic poet Achim von Arnim, who grew up here. After the war, the site was used in different ways before the current owners renovated it extensively using sustainable building materials.
In the four holiday apartments in the main house for four to eight people, there is now a successful mix of warm wall colors, vintage furniture, colorful carpets, tasteful accessories, high-quality wooden furniture and old porcelain from Meissen. The kitchen, with its large gas stove and long table, is a great place to cook, chat and eat together.
The park surrounding the house merges into a forest and was kept as natural as possible in order to provide sufficient habitat for animals, birds and various tree and plant species. The new plantings were chosen so that they can cope with the changed climate conditions and save water. Here you can relax and read in a deckchair, watch animals or simply enjoy the lush greenery and peace. At night, if the sky is clear, you can even see the Milky Way and the Big Dipper shining above the house. Especially in summer, this romantic place with concerts in the garden is simply enchanting.

ArchitectureWhen renovating the building in accordance with listed buildings, as much of the manor house as possible should be preserved while still meeting modern criteria. The arrangement of the rooms has remained the same in order to preserve the impression of the historical spatial situation. This means that not every room has its own bathroom. The doors and ceilings have also been preserved, some with an exciting patina. Much of the furnishings are antique or vintage. Only sustainable materials such as clay plaster, shell limestone, wood and natural stone were used during the renovation. As far as possible, the old floorboards, doors, shutters and door locks were restored and preserved.
The employees, all of whom come from the region, can of course take part in all cultural events on site and receive further training, particularly in the area of landscape conservation using historical means.
EnvironmentHot water is supplied via a heat pump and electricity is produced using solar cells. The wastewater treatment plant is organic and feeds the pond in the grove to provide water for animals and plants. In the future there will also be an electric charging station. All cleaning materials such as dishwashing liquid, detergent, dishcloths, etc. are - as far as possible - biodegradable.
Well-BeingThere is a sauna and a large park with an adjacent forest.
