Gut Wittmoldt

Wittmoldt, Northern Germany, Germany

If you jump from the bathing jetty into the Kleiner Plöner See and swim out a bit, you can admire the Wittmoldt manor house in all its glory. The red brick building imposingly stretches its face upwards, embedded in a sea of green treetops.

The estate has been owned by the von Bülow family for over 120 years. Since 2014, the family has been offering guests overnight accommodation in the manor house. A total of five stylishly furnished double rooms and two modern bathrooms are available on the Bel Floor. From each of the rooms, guests look out over the natural landscape. In addition, a beautiful holiday apartment was accommodated in the bakehouse and the manager's house. The surrounding area is characterized by a fantastically beautiful nature park with protected lake shores. The peninsula on which the estate is located can be explored along a signposted art and culture trail along the shore. A lot of modern art can also be admired in the manor house, and exhibitions are curated regularly.

Five Welsh Cobs horses gallop in the paddock all year round and enjoy life. They are used for therapeutic purposes. There are also almost 60 natural, old apple and pear trees on the estate, whose fruits are processed into cakes, compote and juice. Vegetables and herbs that grow on the estate's premises are also processed into farm products. Much of this can be found in the morning on the sumptuous breakfast buffet in the old manor house kitchen.

Gut Wittmoldt is in a wonderfully quiet location in the wonderful Plön Lake District. Whether swimming, canoeing, walking or reading - everyone can find relaxation here. In the outdoor areas of the manor house and around the lake there are plenty of secluded spots where you can recharge your batteries and enjoy the wonderful landscape.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe manor house was built in 1895 in the Tudor style by the von Bülow family and has been family-owned ever since. The ensemble is a classic estate complex, from the interior to the architecture, everything is consistent. The furniture is original and has been gently restored. Today the building is a listed building.

FoodThe delicious breakfast buffet is served in the cozy breakfast room in the old manor house kitchen. Many of the dishes are home-grown and freshly prepared. When purchasing, seasonal and ecological products from the area are used. The buffet also includes vegan options.

The von Bülow family maintains good contact with regional businesses and craftsmen from the neighborhood. The housekeeper not only has her job, but also her family and place of residence directly with the von Bülow family on the estate. All employees benefit from flexible working hours. The estate supports ThRip eV (therapeutic riding in Plön), Greenpeace and Nabu. There is close cooperation with Seeweg Gut Wittmoldt eV, which promotes art and culture in the region.

EnvironmentSustainability is part of Gut Wittmoldt's concept and is actively communicated to guests. The building complex has its own drinking water and waste water supply. Electricity is generated via a solar system, which also supplies the e-charging station on the grounds. The rest of the building's electricity needs are covered by the green energy provider Greenpeace energy. A wood pellet system supplies the farm with environmentally friendly heat. The farm is located in the middle of a nature reserve and is committed to preserving biodiversity. For example, the tradition of meadow orchards is cultivated. The estate's flagship are the almost 60 natural, old apple and pear trees, whose fruits are processed into cakes, compote and juice. Vegetables and herbs that grow on the grounds of the estate are also processed into farm products. Whenever possible, guests and seminar participants are provided with these regional products.

Well-BeingThe estate includes a facility for therapeutic riding.
