Gut Bielenberg

Kollmar, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany

The Boutique Hotel Gut Bielenberg is a cultural and natural monument and is located right on the Elbe and the Elbe beach as well as the nature reserve. The North Sea and Elbe cycle path leads past the hotel and some of the happiness routes start in Kollmar or in the nearby area.

Host Simone Fuhrmann moved from Cologne to Schleswig-Holstein with her family in 2013 and started the first farm apartment in 2014. In 2019, the old farm was purchased, which the family renovated and refurbished. According to initial documents, the house dates back to 1674 and is now a cultural monument in Schleswig-Holstein. Simone attaches great importance to preserving old things and combining them with the latest technology. For example, you can still find old paintings, beams from the 13th century and a lot of history at Gut Bielenberg.

It was Simone's idea to create a small, special hotel that would bring people closer to nature and the surrounding area. Sustainability and the integration of flora and fauna were important to her. All suites are different due to the architecture of the building. A lot of work was done with natural colors that can be found in the surrounding area. A lot of emphasis was also placed on high comfort. The hostess wants the guest to feel at home here.

Since opening in 2020, the hotel has continued to develop and in the summer the small café and a conference location will open, which can be used for offsites, workations and tiny weddings.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe Hotel Gut Bielenberg is a cultural and natural monument and was restored and renovated using sustainable, untreated and environmentally friendly materials. This was done in close coordination with the Office for Nature Conservation and Monument Protection. In addition, only local craftsmen were used for the renovation.

FoodThe hotel works with regional catering companies and only buys locally. The quality of the products is the main priority - if this is not the case, regional products are used. In summer, when the café is open, there are homemade cakes.

The host only works with colleagues from the region. Courses and training are mandatory and are part of the further development of the employees and the entire team. The working hours are adapted to the needs of the employees and are coordinated with them.

EnvironmentThe hotel has a smart grid that generates its own electricity and is therefore self-sufficient. The company's vehicles are based on e-mobility. Guests are also offered a charging station and there are power connections for e-bikes. Eco-friendly cleaning products are used for cleaning and guests are offered amenity kits on request. Garbage is strictly separated and organic waste is composted. Water consumption is reduced by special Airpower attachments. Furthermore, room service with towel replacement is only offered after two days. Guests can also do without it altogether if they wish. As a natural monument, the hotel works closely with the Nabu and the Owl Friends. Nesting boxes are available on the property and are also looked after accordingly.
