House

Gähwindehof

Oberstaufen, Bavaria, Germany

A breathtaking view of the Hochgrat massif, horses grazing in the paddocks and the occasional deer running past - pure idyll in the beautiful Allgäu. At the Mountain Ranch Resort Gähwindehof, guests will find peace, closeness to nature and comfort in equal measure.

The three chalets on the site of a former mountain farm offer an exclusive holiday experience. Host Bettina Mayr lovingly looks after all guests in the house, which will be newly opened in 2023. Guests are personally looked after by the owner and receive excellent tips for excursions in the region. In addition to nature, the focus here is on horses, which of course makes passionate riders particularly happy.

The lodges are all equipped to a very high standard and each chalet has its own design concept from alpine to boho. Elegant cosiness and down-to-earth luxury ensure a pleasant and relaxing stay, and the wide range of sports and leisure activities in the area certainly offers something to suit every guest. From skiing and cross-country skiing in winter to hiking, swimming, climbing or sailing in summer. However, the large natural pool in front of the door is so inviting that you may not need anything else. Each chalet also has its own sauna and fireplace for private hours.

The gourmet breakfast with great products from surrounding producers and honey from our own bees is the perfect start to the day. If you wish, you can also order small regional dishes such as a snack platter, fondue or Kaiserschmarrn. Drink your first coffee in the morning sun, watch the horses grazing at lunchtime and enjoy the blue hour in the evening before the magnificent starry sky appears - simply magical.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe modern architecture blends harmoniously into the surroundings and looks like an Allgäu mountain farm. The building material used was wood from the region, which was processed by local craftsmen. The interior and garden furniture are also made of untreated wood.

FoodFood largely comes from regional producers and farmers. For breakfast there is honey from our own bees. The vegetables, herbs and fruit come from our own garden.

The animals on the farm almost exclusively come from animal welfare or would otherwise have been slaughtered.

EnvironmentThe drinking water comes from its own source. The wastewater is cleaned using our own sewage treatment plant. A large part of the electricity is generated via a photovoltaic system and the waste is of course separated. The process water (e.g. for garden irrigation) is obtained from cisterns. When it comes to cleaning agents, attention is paid to biological compatibility and degradability. Guests are also encouraged to use the spring water sparingly and respectfully. And hand-made natural soaps are available in the bathrooms. The meadows are only mown twice a year. This has also contributed to the biodiversity (over 70 types of grass and herbs) increasing again in the fields. No artificial fertilizers or pesticides are used.

Well-BeingEach chalet has its own small wellness area with sauna and waterfall shower. The approximately 250 square meter natural swimming pond is available exclusively to guests of the resort.
