Farmhouse 1604

Übersee, Bavaria, Germany

The Farmhouse 1604 with its four spacious holiday apartments is located in Seethal, a small valley on Lake Chiemsee. The foundation stone for the farmhouse was laid in 1604, hence the name. The listed stone house was originally the house of a Chiemsee fisherman. With a view over meadow orchards and reed meadows in the direction of the lake and over a pasture area to neighboring farms, the farmhouse is the perfect place for those seeking peace and quiet and outdoor vacationers.

Sabine and Christof Imdahl are the former owners of the Hotel Chiemgauhof and the sundowner bar directly on Lake Chiemsee. A few years ago they bought the listed farmhouse nearby and completely renovated and rebuilt it as Farmhouse 1604. The old fisherman's house was divided into two parts, a farmer's wing and a fisherman's wing. That's why there is now a "Farmer" page in the redesigned farmhouse that Christof set up and a "Fisherman" page that Sabine set up.

The Farmhouse combines farm character with an innovative, modern interior. The individual apartments vary in size – from 95 to 230 square meters. Cosiness prevails through the thick walls, one apartment even has a large, open fireplace. The large window fronts let in a lot of light and you can – if you get up early enough – admire one or the other sunrise.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe farmhouse is dominated by antique furniture from the last generations, enhanced with daring colours. Old furniture is upcycled with new fabrics or upholstery. Likewise, former objects belonging to the fisherman were redesigned and turned into lamps or wardrobes. The model for the renovation of the courtyard was the old construction. In addition, only regional materials were used by local companies to redesign the farm.

The two employees of the farmhouse are allowed to use the lunchtime table in the former hotel, insofar as they do not eat together in the farmhouse anyway. You can also use the yoga classes free of charge.

EnvironmentThere is filter coffee and portafilter coffee, the breakfast ingredients come in glasses if possible and special attention is generally paid to low waste consumption. Shampoo and shower gel come in the form of soap wrapped in paper – again true to the motto: little waste and less water. As far as waste separation is concerned, each unit has its own bins for paper, glass, plastic and organic waste. In addition, the construction is enormously energy-saving thanks to the massive and high-quality construction technology. Another theme in Farmhouse 1604: planting trees. The owners support tree planting projects and also plant a lot themselves. Part of the agricultural land belonging to the farm is natural (30%).

Well-BeingThere is no shortage of relaxation in the farmhouse: there is a yoga studio with regular yoga classes and retreats, a personal trainer, personally accompanied mountain tours and the farmhouse's own electric boat.
