Every room at the Ermita del Carmen offers breathtaking views of the mountains and the surrounding nature.
The building itself, a unique combination of a 15th century structure with modern, comfortable facilities and a luxurious atmosphere, is particularly impressive due to its location: located in the middle of a natural park, the house offers an impressive 360º view of nature and exudes a magical and idyllic atmosphere.
The house was originally built in the 15th century as a sacred place. In the 19th century, however, it was sold and abandoned along with the property under the "Amortización de Mendizabal" law. 14 years ago, the current owners decided to bring it back to life. The renovation took six years, preserving the historical heritage while creating a modern building.
The owner's family is originally from the area. His father used to own an estate near La Ermita, which is part of the family history. The natural area is sparsely populated as it is heavily protected, which has allowed it to retain its authentic Andalusian character and originality.
The decoration of the house is characterized by its simplicity and beauty. Numerous works of art can be found throughout the house and in the garden, which underline the harmonious combination of tradition and modernity and highlight the special charm of this unique place.

ArchitectureThe house, once a sacred site, has been lovingly restored. The gardens that were then part of the monks' lives and the natural spring, originally enclosed in a plastic pipe, have been completely renovated. Now the spring bubbles freely, attracting numerous native birds that find shelter there. The house and pool were built using the existing walls and arches, with all new materials sourced locally. The stone paving in the courtyards and garden, for example, comes from the Carcabuey ancestral quarry. Special effort was made to rebuild the original stone walls around the property to create a natural and harmonious ambience that serves as a habitat for many small insects and lizards. Local craftsmen and materials were always preferred during the renovation. All doors and windows were made by a local master carpenter, the walls by a local stonemason. When materials such as glass could not be sourced locally, the most efficient and sustainable suppliers were chosen.
FoodThe vegetable garden, which guests can use, is completely organic and irrigated by the natural spring.
EnvironmentThe property gets most of its energy from a solar panel system. A biological septic tank has been built for water treatment. Most of the water comes from a natural spring that flows past the property. The spring also irrigates the organic garden and the rest of the outdoor area, as the hermits did in the past. The pool is filled with the spring water and maintained by a salt purification system, which makes it particularly pleasant. Carcabuey, the village where the property is located, has protected 95% of its area as a natural park. Nature and climate are top priorities here. Ermita del Carmen, as part of the "Agrupación de casas rurales de Carcabuey", actively supports the goals and objectives of this community.
Well-BeingThere is a huge pool where you can swim a few laps or just float around.
