Ein Ding der Möglichkeit

Waddeweitz, Lower Saxony, Germany

"Ein Ding der Möglichkeit" is a cooperatively organized living and working project in the middle of Wendland and also a very special accommodation. A beautiful courtyard surrounded by an old half-timbered house with glazed bay windows, a few smaller residential buildings, a barn with a stage and screen, and in front of it the colorful outdoor bar that welcomes all who arrive. Guests can realize projects here, take part in workshops or simply spend a holiday close to nature.

The apartments have a spacious living and dining area, new bathrooms, their own kitchen and comfortable bedrooms. The double rooms are also very light and airy. Old wooden floorboards, historical tiles, beautiful lamp finds and warm wall colors as well as matching accessories give the rooms their individual character. Some of the previous owners' furniture was quickly repainted and upholstered. During the renovation, historically painted walls were found, which have been lovingly preserved. The old key board is of course still used and so the charm of the old is successfully combined with modern living culture. On the site there are two old circus wagons and charmingly furnished tipis for overnight stays for those who want to sleep a little more unusually.

The large lawn with a view of the countryside, the sauna, the swings, the trampoline and the natural pond with sun loungers invite you to relax in many different ways. Film screenings and festivals, concerts and rehearsals, readings and writing retreats, workshops and filming, coworking and yoga retreats - anything is possible here and anything imaginable is possible. The program is created together with guests, friends, local initiatives and a lot of the cooperative's own creative desire, which is incredibly inspiring and positive.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe previous owners had also entertained guests here and so the substance was right. The installation of two rooms in an old dance hall is particularly impressive, while doing justice to the monument protection and preserving the historically painted wooden ceiling. In the barn, the so-called InnovationsLab with seminar and yoga rooms, offices and workshops is being built as sustainably as possible - with lots of wood, clay plaster and underfloor heating.

FoodWeekly cooking events offer a three-course menu, each with a special theme - for example Korean or Italian. In summer, a small Italian pizza truck provides guests with Italian superfood. Everything is regional, organic and seasonal. The vegetables come from a cooperative. At the farm shop "Frau Süssmilch", which is within walking distance, there is everything you need to cook for yourself. For example, delicious quince jelly and other products from the Wendland cooperative. As well as great goat cheese. You can get home-brewed beer from Wendlandbier a few kilometers away, and the farm's own bar is also very well stocked.

The cooperative consists of eight people who run the project together and live on the farm. Divided into working groups, everyone is responsible for their area. They all pay the same salary and sometimes take vacations.

EnvironmentThe garbage is separated independently. There is biological soap and water-saving toilets. It is heated with an environmentally friendly wood chip heater. The waste water is cleaned in a small sewage treatment plant so that the gray water can be used to water the garden.
