The multi-award-winning nature and organic hotel with a wonderful spa impresses with yoga, wellness and hiking offers in Carinthia. The cuisine at the wellness hotel focuses on regional slow food. Vegan and vegetarian dishes are also a treat here. Alkaline fasting in combination with yoga retreats is particularly popular in spring, winter and fall. The 4-star superior Spahotel is a retreat for sustainable hiking vacations or wellness breaks in the Gailtal valley. Short breaks are recommended at this popular organic hotel. In addition to yoga and yoga retreats, there are cooking workshops and guided hikes.
From the hotel, guests look south, far across the valley, to the peaks of the Carnic Alps. The daberer is located above the beautiful village of St. Daniel in the Gailtal, with its church in the center, surrounded by green meadows. St. Daniel is one of eight Slow Food Villages in Carinthia. It is about biological diversity, sustainable cultivation methods and last but not least about enjoyable food.
The Biohotel is more than a hotel, it is a place of retreat with countless favorite places both inside and outside. The rooms are lovingly and individually designed. The spa is so spacious that there is even a cozy living room right in the middle. The daberer offers its guests quality time and has been for over 40 years. The pleasure can also be experienced in the kitchen, which is colorful, regional, seasonal and a bit extravagant. According to the Slow Food concept, products of the best quality and from the surrounding area are used.
The siblings Marianne and Christian Daberer run the hotel today together with their parents, Inge and Willi Daberer. First there was a fresh water source, then the daberer was added: In 1928 the St. Daniel spa was opened by Thomas Daberer and later managed by Carla Daberer.
In 1978, today's senior bosses took over the inn and made it into the Daberer Biopension. Her philosophy was “think things differently and develop them further”, which has not changed to this day. Since then, the house has grown and so has the Daberer family. After years of hiking and apprenticeship, Marianne and Christian Daberer also returned to the organic hotel, thus continuing the family tradition.

ArchitectureThe organic hotel is clear and straightforward and offers a lot of space. The materials used are of high quality: wood, felt, sound, light and color. The house was built bioclimatically, so that the solar energy is used passively through the many glass surfaces facing south. The construction took place exclusively with regional craft firms that have known and valued the organic hotel for years. In addition, a solar system and pellet heating for hot water and heating was installed.
FoodThe regional producers come and go in the organic hotel. Much is self-made and the garden supplies fresh ingredients. For the winter it is boiled down and fermented. The daberer is at home in the world's first Slow Food Travel Region. Organic is just as much a part of it as the slow food concept. The fresh trout from our own pond are a specialty of the house. The ice cream and bread, which is freshly baked in the house every day, are homemade. The wholemeal flour for it is ground in-house to further refine the taste.
The majority of the team comes from the local area. The hotel offers employees a secure job in a good location. The hotel facility may be used and there are favorable conditions for relatives. Accommodation in a single room in the nearby staff house is free of charge. The team gets the same good food as the guests. Employees receive discounts on purchases in the shop and on spa products. There is also a "daberer.team.antrieb", a further development program for each: n individual: n and the teams in the departments. We are happy to pass on knowledge, train apprentices and support the offer of apprenticeships with Matura. Regular working hours are a matter of course. The host family also supports selected social projects. In addition, there are regional subsidies to Slow Food, the Red Cross and youth sports.
EnvironmentThe hotel has the advantage of its own fresh water source: every drop, whether from the tap or in the pool, comes from its own spring water. Waste separation, natural, environmentally friendly and certified cleaning agents and recycling are consistently implemented in-house. Electricity is obtained from a green electricity provider. The Biohotel has been working climate-neutrally since 2021.
Well-BeingThere is a weekly program for guests with activities such as yoga, Qigong and Pilates. In addition, the organic hotel has been offering "daberer.detox alkaline fasting" for several decades. Fasting with pleasure and relaxing in the spa. The spa area is generously divided on four levels, with saunas, the swimming pool and relaxation rooms. Another highlight are the forest sauna and the forest pond. The spa also offers massages, cosmetic treatments and special fascia training. The program also offers weekly guided hikes in the Carnic and Gailtal Alps. The Gailtal cycle path leads to Hermagor. E-bikes and electric scooters are available for hire for a fee.
