Nestled in the verdant heart of the Haßberge Nature Park lies Das Haus am See – a retreat promising peace and relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Surrounded by trees, just a stone's throw from Lower Franconia's largest reservoir, the holiday home exudes an unparalleled hideaway atmosphere.
The house itself, an architect-designed home built in 1964, impresses with its mid-century modern elements: open living spaces, light-filled galleries, glass blocks, and large glass fronts that offer views of the garden. Inside, designer pieces, natural materials, and carefully selected vintage items come together. The open gallery, which elegantly connects the rooms, is particularly striking, while small, separate areas such as the bedrooms and kitchen create intimate retreats.
Teresa and Florian Hau, passionate hosts, have lovingly transformed the house into a nature-inspired hideaway. Teresa, with a background in tourism and marketing, and Florian, a physicist and project manager, run the house and have made it a place where time together is truly savored. The idea of turning it into a vacation home developed gradually – driven by the vision of creating a place where one can slow down and enjoy nature.
Besides the tranquility, the region also attracts visitors with its cultural highlights: cities like Bamberg or Würzburg are within easy reach, and seasonal wine festivals and wine taverns invite you to enjoy the local cuisine.

The distinctive staircase, glass blocks, and other mid-century elements were preserved, while renovations such as new windows, roof, and insulation ensure a contemporary living experience. For all the work, Teresa and Florian Hau relied on regional craftspeople who sourced most of their materials locally.
Sustainability is evident in every detail of this lakeside house: hand-sewn cushions made from deadstock fabrics, vintage furniture, natural materials for the bed and furnishings, and a cozy fireplace for chilly days. Cleaning and laundry products are natural, and small, fair-trade labels complete the furnishings. Everything is geared towards slow living and slow travel: conscious consumption, mindfulness, and moments of tranquility are paramount here.
For guests who wish to combine relaxation and activity, the lakeside house offers high-quality yoga equipment from hejhej mats – mats, blocks, meditation and relaxation cushions, as well as one-on-one yoga sessions and massages available on request. The large bathtub invites guests to relax together, while two bicycles are available for exploring the surrounding area, complete with personal insider tips from Teresa and Florian.
