B&B

d'Kammer

Illerbeuren-Kronburg, Allgäu, Germany

In the B&B d'Kammer you can experience the beautiful Allgäu in its original naturalness. There are still no strong tourist flows here and guests can get to know the real village level.

The B&B is a typical farmhouse with creaking wooden floors, just a house that has history. The grandmother of hostess Julia once lived in the house. In the third generation, she has opened the doors to guests since July 2017 and runs it together with her husband Michael. Inside there are still many old objects and furniture from earlier times. These have been extensively restored or converted. All in all, the house can be described as a special mixture of old and new. Each room tells its own story, accompanied by photos, and is individually designed and furnished. All united that they are stylish and modern.

There is a lot to do in the garden and in nature, whether sporty or relaxed. In front of the house there is a beautiful meadow with trees and the Iller direkt flows right past the property. The neighbors' two cows graze in the pretty view and graze there - in any case, the ringing of the cowbells repeatedly reveals that you are in the middle of the country.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe renovation was carried out in cooperation with local suppliers, always trying to use regional materials such as local wood. If possible, the old was transformed into something new, for example in the bathroom or in the garden. Well-preserved furniture, such as Julias Grandmother's wooden bench, continues to adorn the d'Kammer. The old grandpa's table now serves as a children's workshop and a wooden ladder from the past makes it possible to visit the beautiful roof terrace.

FoodBreakfast in the d'Kammer is based on the slow food principle. Every guest learns where the prepared food comes from. They almost always come from the immediate vicinity and, if possible, are also of organic quality. A special highlight is "Julias Muesli" consisting of various seasonal, fresh fruits. There are vegan and vegetarian options and special dietary needs are taken care of.

There are two employees who live in the village, who are offered fl exible working hours and wages. In addition, holiday and Christmas bonuses and a bonus are paid to them voluntarily. For the hostess, all employees are an equally important part of the team and are treated in the same way. The groceries are procured in the Regenswagner grocery store, a supermarket with and for people with disabilities. Breakfast eggs, for example, are obtained from the associated agriculture.

EnvironmentWherever possible, plastic is not used in the d'Kammer. Breakfast is served in mason jars, seasonal and regional purchases are made, the garbage is separated, the chickens or the compost heap are given food waste, crocheted rags are crocheted from old wool scraps and old newspaper is converted into garbage bags. The house is cleaned or washed with Sonett cleaning and washing agents. The cosmetics come from the natural cosmetics brand RINGANA. Electricity is determined using photovoltaics. Guests experience sustainability in the daily actions of the hosts and can easily incorporate what they have learned into their everyday lives after their stay.

Well-BeingThe nice thing about Unterallgäu is that the hiking trails are not yet as crowded as in other areas of Germany. In addition, various cycling and hiking tours start right on the doorstep. There is also the option of renting a boat and practicing forest bathing or stand up paddling.
