Charmantes Stadthaus Husum

Husum, North Sea, Germany

The port city of Husum is naturally located directly on the water and has a beautiful harbor promenade and old town. The "Charmante Stadthaus Husum" was built in 1896 and is, how else, an old fisherman's house. It is located in the city center not far from the port. Martin, who works full-time as an organic farmer, bought and renovated the house in 2015. As a teenager, he fell in love with the region on a trip and dreamed of a life here on the North Sea.

The house has cozy seating areas, a fireplace, a new bathroom, two separate bedrooms and a large, fully equipped kitchen. The interior is in Scandinavian style with a beautiful old wooden staircase. Warm natural colors, beautiful lamps, baskets, sisal carpets and sheepskins ensure a cozy atmosphere. The view from the balcony of the garden or over the city rooftops is accompanied by the screeching of seagulls.

In addition to the harbour, the castle and the Theodor Storm House, there are also some pretty cafés and restaurants within walking distance. For beautiful excursions on foot, by bike or boat, you can stock up on good provisions in Husum, such as the famous Husum crabs, dike count pie and Friesen cake - North Sea full, so to speak.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe historic building has been carefully renovated. Old wooden beams uncovered and treated again. The walls have been painted with natural chalk paint, which ensures a good indoor climate. All wood surfaces are only treated with natural oil.

EnvironmentOrganic farmer Martin, of course, pays a lot of attention to the environment in his job and manages 35 hectares with his team as a bird and nature conservation area. The garden at the house is also insect-friendly. Of course, the garbage is separated and the house has solar panels on the roof, which also supply the heating.
