Casas del Naval

Villanueva de la Vera, Castilla y León, Spain

At Casas del Naval, the first thing you see in the morning is an almost untouched landscape of forests, waterways and open expanses – a silent invitation to start the day outdoors.

Upon arrival at the casas, one is immediately struck by that rare feeling of having truly arrived – not just in a place, but in another time. Gentle hills, expansive meadows, and the rustling of the trees form the backdrop for a stay that slows down the pace of life. Host Jesus fell in love with the region over 25 years ago and built the first house – two more followed. While Casa San Julián feels like a beautiful journey back in time, Las Encinas is somewhat more modern, and La Junta impresses with its large windows offering breathtaking views.

The interiors of the houses tell their own unique story: warm, personal, and with a delicate balance of rustic charm and elegant elements. Natural materials such as wood, stone, antique tiles, and clay meet carefully selected artworks and thoughtfully curated details. Flowers are everywhere—indoors and out—sometimes filling the air with delightful fragrance. Everything feels organic rather than staged—a place with character.

In addition to the breathtaking scenery, there are the enchanting animals – the donkeys named Ramón, Milagritos, and Luis, a herd of beautiful cows, and various chickens clearly feel at home here. Around the houses, a landscape unfolds that is perfect for exploration. The La Vera region is still considered a hidden gem and uniquely combines unspoiled nature with cultural depth.

Sustainable

Architecture

The construction follows the wisdom of local traditions and utilizes regional materials such as wood, stone, and brick. This results in houses that blend naturally into their surroundings while also being energy-efficient.

Food

Even without a traditional restaurant, guests here experience authentic taste: olive oil from our own production, honey from our own bees.

All staff members come from the region, and care is taken to ensure they feel comfortable and involved in the project. Furthermore, the hosts regularly donate to educational projects for children who need this support.

Environment

Energy comes from solar panels and water from the property's own wells. Blackwater is filtered on-site using proprietary methods. The animals, cows and donkeys, actively contribute to landscape maintenance and ecological balance. By keeping the meadows short, they help prevent fires.
