Baumhaushotel Seemühle

Gräfendorf, Bavaria, Germany

The first glance is a beautiful half-timbered house with a large water wheel. Here you will find the reception of the tree house hotel, where you will be welcomed in a friendly and helpful manner. The forest begins about a hundred meters away. Owner Stephan Schulze spent three years planning and another three years of construction in loving and detailed detail, with a total of ten themed tree houses, a gem in nature. It was opened in 2016.

Tree house is actually the wrong word, because it is more about luxury and feel-good apartments in nature, surrounded by old oak and beech trees. The rooms impress with comfort in a perfectly crafted wood ambience. Even during the somewhat cooler days there is cozy cosiness and comfort in the houses.

The houses are between five and 12 meters high - so visitors should be free from giddiness! Anyone who climbs the wooden stairs will be rewarded with a great view of the countryside and the Waizenbach as it winds its way through the romantic valley. A feeling of relaxation and deceleration spreads within minutes. At night you can look up from the bed into the treetops and the starry sky.

There is a nicely decorated house on the site that serves as a play, reading and common room. Refreshments can also be bought here. Otherwise, catering can be obtained in the nearby village shop. Or you can eat in one of the numerous restaurants nearby. The breakfast buffet in the half-timbered house is extensive and varied. You can also have breakfast brought to the tree house by pulley.

The "Schäferwagen" offers an extraordinary wellness experience; a large, comfortably furnished construction trailer with a built-in sauna. Afterwards you can refresh yourself in the natural bathing pond. There is also a beautiful sun terrace with sun loungers, a hotpot and a Kneipp facility.

In the surrounding nature reserves of Schondratal and Sodenberg, the Spessart Nature Park and the Rhön Biosphere Reserve, it is wonderful to hike and relax. The natural monument and geotope waterfall Trettstein is only 900 meters away.

Sustainable

ArchitectureAll accommodations were built in strict ecological and biological terms, taking into account strict sustainability criteria. Mostly native woods, such as the untreated spruce and larch wood in the tree houses and oak planks, as well as natural materials such as the clay plaster in the mill and sea barn were used. As far as possible, the work was carried out by regional craft businesses. All tree houses are lovingly and harmoniously furnished in different styles, from rustic and romantic in the style of a mountain pasture, to French chic or Scandinavian design to completely designed by an artist. The rooms can be characterized as cozy, luxurious, natural, bright, friendly and inspiring. The historic and listed mill has been professionally restored using historical building materials and, in addition to its very special charm, offers a very healthy indoor climate. The large imposing mill wheel at the mill house has been extensively restored and put back into operation. Much of the electricity for the hotel complex is produced here.

FoodThe breakfast consists of regional and fresh products that come as far as possible from regional suppliers, such as the cheese from a neighboring organic cheese dairy. The bread is temporarily baked in our own bakery. Otherwise self-catering applies, shops and restaurants are nearby.

The employees at the Baumhaushotel Seemühle have a particularly "airy" workplace. In addition, they are granted a large degree of participation and participation. The company values transparency and good communication. A fair payment with a share in sales, the provision of work clothes and a highly motivated team are also part of the working conditions. The operator of the tree house hotel offers a very special platform through the hotel to get in touch with like-minded people - for this purpose a meeting place in the form of an old peasant's house has been faithfully expanded and tastefully furnished according to the historical model. Meetings, events and get-togethers also take place here regularly for school classes and disabled facilities. The company sponsors various projects in the area of needy children as well as local associations.

EnvironmentThe operators want to offer guests a natural and climate-friendly accommodation and stay experience in an oasis of calm. Numerous measures are implemented for environmental protection. The natural swimming pond is also a valuable biotope. Numerous insect hotels and nest boxes for bats were set up in the forest. Much of the electricity for the hotel complex is produced by the restored mill wheel. In addition, the company supplies itself from its own drinking water source and operates its own sewage treatment plant. The garbage is separated consistently, and the guests are also stopped. For reasons of sustainability, towels and bed linen are only exchanged at the request of the guests. An electric vehicle is used for shuttle rides for guests as well as luggage and material transport. By using e-vehicles that are powered by self-generated electricity from hydropower, the company saves 10 tons of CO2 emissions annually compared to the use of fossil-fueled cars.

Well-BeingThe "Schäferwagen" offers an extraordinary wellness experience; a large, comfortably furnished construction trailer with a built-in sauna. Afterwards you can refresh yourself in the natural bathing pond. There is also a beautiful sun terrace with sun loungers, a hotpot and a Kneipp facility.
