Artisan Lofts Paris

Paris, Île-de-France, France

Who hasn't dreamed of living in Paris and devoting themselves entirely to French savoir vivre and strolling through the streets with a baguette and a newspaper under their arm in the morning? This admittedly somewhat romanticized notion can be lived out to the full in the "Artisan Lofts".

The special thing about the six lofts of different sizes is that they were all formerly artist studios and before that functioned as a bakery or fashion studio and creative craftsmen worked there for decades. The lodgings are located on the most beautiful streets of Paris, between the Marais and Montmartre, in the heart of Parisian residential areas. You really quickly feel at home and become part of everyday French life.

Chris and Angie came up with the idea of using these artist studios as holiday apartments around ten years ago. The two also live in Paris with their children and know each other very well. Angie writes a blog with great tips for the French metropolis. She knows where the best bistros and shopping opportunities are and likes to take the time to share her knowledge personally.

The lofts are very tastefully and comfortably furnished with vintage furniture and modern pantry kitchens. They have kept the old factory charm in the remodeling and given a modern twist with fresh colors and matching art on the walls. Colorful coffered walls, plastered brick walls, large windows, and beautiful tile floors complete the look. Some lofts even have a small (inner) courtyard like "Chez Josephine", "L'Atelier 34" or "La Maisonnette". Here you can drink a pastis or a café au lait just like the French neighbors.

Sustainable

ArchitectureWhen converting the historic lofts/workshops, an attempt was made to preserve and restore as much as possible in order to retain or restore the original charm. The two owners also see the lofts as a kind of art project. Accordingly, the pictures usually match the previous use of the lofts.

EnvironmentThe apartments are plastic-free. There are refillable beauty products and some toilets that use rainwater. Preserving and reconstructing the original condition required fewer resources just like upcycling some of the furniture.
