Alte Gendarmerie

Übersee, Bavaria, Germany

From each of the five holiday apartments of the "Alte Gendarmerie Übersee", guests have a wonderful view of the Chiemgau mountains and the greenery all around.

Dr. Angela Schelling is a host with body and soul. She lives in the historic midwifery house opposite, which she and her family have been using as a holiday home for 20 years. Over the years she has come to love the beautiful area in Upper Bavaria and did not hesitate long when the police house, which was in dire need of renovation, was up for sale and bought it.

Today the former police station serves as a place where other people can live in a historic building with a story all of its own. The renovation of the gendarmerie, built around 1890, took place with great attention to detail; the adjacent, listed Albererhof from 1767 has also been rented out since 2019.

Today, guests will fi nd a skilful mix of antique and modern furniture in the two historic buildings, with each apartment having its own individual style. All apartments radiate a friendly and cozy atmosphere and are equipped with a fireplace, a wood kitchen stove and solid wood floors. Originals by an overseas painter with motifs from the region decorate the walls.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe accommodation was renovated from 2015 to 2016 carefully and from an ecological point of view. Since then, lime plaster, natural puddle lime paint with an antiseptic effect, wooden and natural stone floors and other untreated materials have ensured a good room climate. The modern bathrooms are equipped with an exhaust air system and underfloor heating so that well-being begins in the morning. The renovation took place mainly in cooperation with regional craftsmen and great care was taken to ensure that all historical elements, such as the staircase with old layers of paint or the old cell door, were preserved.

EnvironmentWaste separation, ecological cleaning agents and building materials such as the use of lime paint or an eco-tax for rental linen (climate-neutral rental linen) are a matter of course in the holiday apartments of the Alte Gendarmerie. High-performance instantaneous water heaters ensure that warm water is produced directly from fresh water. Each bedroom has a mains cut-off, thus ensuring a relaxed sleep. A central vacuum cleaner system transports the dust out of the building so that guests can look forward to a hypoallergenic atmosphere. Bioland-certified orchards surround the holiday apartments and the hosts have their own Bioland beekeeping and organic food production. They would like to pass on their specialist knowledge of bees and Bioland beekeeping to their guests through regular courses from 2021.
