Alpenlofts

Bad Gastein, Salzburg (state), Austria

The Alpenlofts in Bad Gastein consist of five houses, which are inconspicuous and pleasantly integrated into the surrounding nature. The gentle construction method includes single-storey wooden structures that stand on a concrete base. The lofts have fully glazed window fronts, so that nature can also be felt inside and, above all, can be seen permanently. The covered terraces with their own grill allow a long stay in the fresh air.

There is a separate car park and only a narrow path leads to the houses. The path was deliberately created to create a conscious separation between the street with the parking lot and the lofts. Arrived in the holiday homes of a special kind, the guests experience nature - in every season - in all its charm. In winter you can see snow-capped mountains and forests, and you can make yourself comfortable by the warm fireplace. On cooler days, the rain pounds on the terrace and in summer you can practically live outside. Inside, the six houses differ in style from each other, which is expressed in the colors and the selection of self-made or designer furniture.

The Alpenlofts were created as a joint project of the hosts: Evelyn and Ike Ikrath and the owners of the other houses who wanted a lively neighborhood. Architect Ike designed the houses when he originally wanted to build a house for his family. Today the Alpenlofts are available for small or larger groups and serve as a beautiful retreat and at the same time as a wonderful starting point to explore the region and nature.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe Alpenlofts were created entirely from natural materials. Untreated larch, white-oiled spruce, or Rauris natural stone from the neighboring valley were used. The walls and floors show the larches, which ensure a pleasant room climate. Most of the furniture is self-made from local wood. In each room of the loft there are also small design highlights such as lamps and armchairs - these were collected and curated by the owner and specialist in retro design furniture, Ike. Each of the minimalist rooms is decorated with linen curtains.

FoodIn the Alpenlofts there are excellently equipped kitchens ready for cozy cooking. Guests have the opportunity to book so-called starter boxes, which offer fresh food from the valley that has been thought up with love and made with love. These include, for example, a selection of fine wines, elderberry juice and prosecco, regional sausages and cheese or homemade pasta with pesto. Breakfast can also be booked, which includes Alpine honey, homemade jams, various rolls and types of bread. The hosts are happy to help their guests with the planning of restaurant visits and, in addition to making recommendations, also reserve tables. In the Miramonte and Haus Hirt hotels, depending on availability, guests can also reserve a table and try the various cuisines. There is an organic shop in Bad Gastein that sells regional products.

With the Alpenlofts, the hosts want to: Strengthen the local added value and therefore promote the sale of regional products. Guests can fi nd tips on local restaurants, shops and sights - they are also recommended to a network of guides who make guided tours through nature and surrounding cities possible.

EnvironmentThe energy consumption of the lofts can be controlled very ef fi ciently with an air heat pump. The electricity is obtained ecologically from a regional provider. The property pursues a green concept in dealing with garbage and biological microorganisms are used as cleaning agents. The guests will fi nd organic soaps from Salzburg. In 2020, 100 small and large trees were planted across the property.
