ahead burghotel

Lenzen/Elbe, Brandenburg, Germany

The "ahead burghotel", which opened in 2021, is the world's first climate-positive vegan hotel and wants to be a pioneer as one of the most sustainable hotels in Germany. The committed team implements the ambitious goals with a lot of passion and enthusiasm. The listed castle from the 13th century is located in the middle of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Elbe River Landscape, surrounded by a large garden with many birds and a small river. A variety of offers for exercise in nature brings the desired grounding and relaxation. The traditions of the place paired with sustainable ideas result in a coherent concept.

The rooms are in the castle or in the historic castle school. When setting up, attention was paid to organically certified furniture and materials. Wooden furniture, light textiles, natural colors and meadow-green decorative details such as individually painted walls, covers and plants dominate. In every room there are yoga mats ready for the daily courses in the tea house or in the countryside.

The rich breakfast buffet is taken in the sun-drenched conservatory. In the "place to V" restaurant you can choose to sit in the bright dining room or on the beautiful terrace. Veganism is celebrated here with ease, creativity and a lot of enjoyment. Depending on the season, there are black gnocchi with truffles, wild herb salad with colorful tomatoes or crumble with fruit from our own orchards. After the meal, a stroll through the garden will allow you to see some of the vegetable products you just eaten growing. A (climate) positive feeling to spend time here.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe hotel is located in a historic and listed castle complex. During the extensive renovation, attention was paid to sustainability down to the last detail.

FoodThe goal of the "place to V" restaurant is to get more people excited about climate- and animal-friendly food and at the same time to be attractive as a holiday destination for the urban and nutrition-conscious target group. Some ingredients come from the organically certified Burggarten.

Great importance is attached to ensuring that partners and suppliers are also sustainable and support social projects. For example "Solicola" from Berlin, which promotes projects for refugees, or the "My Boo" bamboo bicycles for hire, which are produced sustainably and fairly in Ghana and Kiel and thus support school projects and fair jobs in Ghana. There are barrier-free rooms with a stair lift and walk-in shower.

Environment100% green electricity, two combined heat and power plants for generating electrical energy and heat, in which the waste heat is also used to generate electricity, almost paperless office organization, waste separation in the rooms, vegan room furnishings and cleaning agents. In terms of sustainability, the responsible guests decide for themselves how often they change towels or how often they are cleaned and can thus actively participate in environmental protection. A forest in Panama is being reforested together with other hotels to compensate for the unavoidable CO₂ emissions. The sustainability of the reforestation project has been checked by independent third parties and has been awarded seals such as CCBS (Climate, Community & Biodiversity Standards) and "Gold" status.

Well-BeingThere are two saunas, massage services, regular yoga and meditation classes, Pilates, nutrition workshops, and yoga retreats.
