Agriturismo Fondoliva

Scicli, Sicily, Italy

From the Agriturismo Fondoliva you can enjoy a panoramic view of a small valley with olive and carob trees, from the garden you can see the sea. The Fondoliva is an authentic agriturismo in the baroque town of Scicli, in the Val di Noto, in south-eastern Sicily. Relaxation and the connection to nature are in the foreground here. Thanks to the low light pollution in the area, you can admire a wonderful starry sky at night.

The traditional farmhouse was built in the early 1900's and used by the hostess' great-grandfather as a tool store. In 2014 the current hostess, Sara Adamo, took it over, renovated it and initially used it as a holiday home. In 2017, permission to rent was granted. Sara loves meeting new people and having them as guests in her farmhouse, showing them their culture, cuisine and beautiful places in nature and bringing them closer. Guests at Fondoliva experience warm Sicilian hospitality. Discreetly and attentively at the same time, Sara takes care of her guests and wants to give them an unforgettable time in southern Europe. In order to be able to enjoy the true flavors of the Sicilian countryside, Sara runs a farm shop with her own local produce and groceries.

Each of the three apartments has been given a plant name from the garden and has been designed with colors that reflect the surroundings. The apartments are relatively small and comfortably furnished. The outdoor areas are easily accessible and invite you to relax with their natural scents and delicate colors. The Fondoliva is the ideal place to spend a comfortable and relaxing holiday as a couple, with friends or family.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe house is built in the typical old stone architecture of the region. Various sustainability factors played a crucial role in the renovation work, particularly in the upcycling of furniture. Most of the materials, stone and wood, come from the region. Some original parts and materials could be retained or reused. The craftsmen who helped with the conversion come from the area.

FoodIn her farm shop, the hostess offers homemade specialties and food from her own cultivation or from the region, such as cheese and meat from small farms in the area. Guests can help themselves to their meals from their own vegetable garden.

EnvironmentEnergy is generated by solar panels and batteries for night use. A lot of up- and recycled items can be found in the accommodation, as many of the furniture have been handcrafted from materials that have already been used. The garbage is separated. There is a compost for organic waste — guests are encouraged to use it. When selecting the plants in the garden, care was taken to keep water consumption as low as possible (no lawn and lots of succulents).

Well-BeingThere is the possibility to book massages. And in the garden there is a whirlpool.
