Surrounded by dunes, sea, and unspoiled nature, the house sits like a still life on a lake. The unique coastal light lends the place a special atmosphere at every time of day. Even in the morning, you can watch birds from the windows and let the tranquility of the landscape wash over you.
Agger Farmhouse comprises two houses: the Hayloft and the Main House. The Hayloft boasts a high ceiling, abundant natural light, and expansive views, while the spacious Main House offers ample room for both communal gatherings and private retreats. The original farmhouse (Main House) dates back to 1802 and underwent extensive renovations in 2020. The former barn (Hayloft) was added in 2021. Both units can be booked separately or together.
Host Gregor was on holiday with his family in the small, old fishing village of Agger when they discovered the thatched-roof house. It's almost as old as the village itself and has significantly shaped its history. The house is located just 200 meters from the sea, on the shores of a lake. Above all, Gregor's love for the dunes, the North Sea, and the friendly, down-to-earth locals influenced his decision to buy the house and open it to guests.
The furnishings are high-quality and meticulously designed: colors, furniture, and renovations have been carefully selected to create a warm, inviting, and harmonious atmosphere. Vintage elements add a personal touch. The modern kitchens are perfect for cooking together and spending time together – when you're not outside enjoying the changing light, the ever-changing weather, and the fresh sea air.

The main house was completely renovated without altering its fundamental character. The hayloft was gutted and rebuilt by Danish architect Søren Sarup (Puras Architecture) using sustainable construction methods, while preserving the barn-like structure. Both units prioritize durable, natural materials, good insulation, and energy-efficient building technology. The furnishings include vintage pieces complemented by durable designer furniture. A significant portion of the work was carried out by local craftspeople from the Thy region. Materials were sourced regionally wherever possible. Additionally, durable Scandinavian vintage furniture and select pieces from European manufacturers were used. The Thisted region, where the house is located, is considered a pioneer in Denmark's energy transition and benefits from the corresponding local infrastructure and specialized companies.
The farmhouse is powered entirely by renewable wind energy and heated by its own heat pump. Water-based paints, environmentally friendly cleaning products, and eco-friendly personal care items are used. Bed linens, throws, and some furniture are made from natural or recycled materials. Guests are informed about the operation of the building's systems, waste separation, and the efficient use of water and cleaning products.
Two saunas are currently being planned and are scheduled to be available from summer 2026 for sauna sessions with views of the dike and the lake. They are being developed and produced using a circular economy approach by a Danish company.
