WALD Villas

Aavasaksa, Lapland, Finland

Every morning, nature paints a new picture in front of the large bedroom window. Majestic trees surround the WALD Villas and create a quiet, private retreat in the middle of Lapland.

Depending on the season, you can see golden sunrises, snow-covered landscapes, bright autumn colours or deep green forests. With a bit of luck, you can even see animals passing by.

Each villa is nestled in a spacious clearing, surrounded by untouched nature. There is space for slow, mindful experiences in every season - from the dancing northern lights to the endless midnight sun to the magical snow landscape. A fireplace ensures cozy evenings, while a warm bath or the traditional wood-burning sauna in the open air offers relaxation with a view.

Opened in 2024, WALD Villas is a family-run retreat owned by Kaisa and Olli. The Aavasaksa region is Lapland's oldest tourist destination and is known for its impressive panoramas of Finland and Sweden. Due to its unique elevation, Aavasaksa became part of the Struve Geodesic Chain and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

When designing the villas, special emphasis was placed on natural materials, soft colors and sustainable decisions. Furniture and decoration are partly made from recycled materials. The light-flooded rooms combine modern comfort with the tranquility of nature - a place to arrive, switch off and consciously experience the beauty of Lapland.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe cabins and saunas are made of wood - a renewable, natural building material that actively contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The furniture was selected with sustainability and environmental awareness in mind, always in line with the philosophy of supporting local companies. The wood for the construction comes from the forests of northern Finland. Production takes place in a protected factory hall, with the resulting wood chips and scraps being used directly to generate heat - a well-thought-out cycle that conserves resources and promotes sustainable construction.

EnvironmentBiodegradable cleaning products, 100% renewable energy and energy-efficient lighting contribute to environmentally friendly operations. The air source heat pumps come from a certified Eco-Lighthouse company and careful waste separation ensures responsible recycling. The buildings were delivered in a single transport, significantly reducing emissions compared to a traditional construction site. Information on sustainable measures is regularly shared on the website and social media to promote transparency and awareness.

Well-BeingEach cabin has a private, wood-fired log sauna outside. There is also a small spa room with a large window, shower and bathtub, separate from the toilet. A fireplace in the living area with a panoramic view of the forest and a fire pit in the spacious private garden invite you to enjoy the special atmosphere by the open fire and fully enjoy the calming effect of nature.
