Villa Sicilia

Modica, Sicily, Italy

Villa Sicilia is a truly unique retreat for the perfect holiday in a historic Sicilian villa.

Originally, the villa was part of the family farm of Diego Basile, the owner, built after the devastating earthquake of 1693. Over time, it was transformed from a watchtower to a summer residence. The villa's interiors still retain details from the 18th century reconstruction.

Nestled in an impressive landscape with a large garden, the villa offers spectacular views of a breathtaking canyon and the surrounding natural beauty. The villa's furnishings are a successful mix of historic Sicilian furniture from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Every detail has been carefully chosen to preserve the charm and elegance of bygone times, while offering modern amenities.

The villa is particularly bright as it is located in a valley that is bathed in sun throughout the day. For Diego it has always been important to promote sustainable tourism that is in harmony with the history and character of the house, preserving the structure in its details while enhancing it.

Guests can not only enjoy the unique ambience, but also experience the delicious Sicilian cuisine, which is a true experience from breakfast to dinner.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe restoration of Villa Sicilia followed a traditional principle that preserves the original architecture and gives it a unique identity. Unlike many other renovated luxury villas, the villa stands out for its authentic character and its close connection to the regional construction style. Particular attention was paid to the selection of materials. Every detail, from the stone to the wood, comes from the immediate surroundings.

FoodAt Villa Sicilia, the focus is on the quality and origin of the food. Only ingredients that are free of chemical additives and come from local producers are selected with great care. Fresh vegetables, juicy fruits, meat, freshly caught fish, cheese, eggs and flour come directly from the region and guarantee authentic Sicilian flavors. These high-quality products find their way onto the guests' tables, be it at the rich breakfast or at lovingly prepared dinners. The villa's two talented chefs conjure up a culinary experience that captures the essence of Sicilian cuisine. Classics such as caponata, parmigiana, arancini, spaghetti with clams, grilled fish and homemade focaccias and pizzas are on the menu. Traditional delicacies such as orange salad, cakes, desserts and the famous homemade Cassata Sicilia are also prepared with great passion. The guests' needs are also flexible: vegetarian, vegan dishes and options for guests with food allergies are a matter of course.

EnvironmentThe accommodation uses modern solar panels for energy supply, while rainwater tanks cover the water requirements in an environmentally friendly way. For years, guests have also been part of the sustainable philosophy: they carefully separate their waste and are only provided with ecological cleaning products.

Well-BeingThere is a spacious massage room and an inviting area for yoga. The spacious swimming pool not only invites you to swim, but also serves as a place for physical exercise and meditation.
