Villa Santa Caterina

Pierantonio, Umbria, Italy

Picturesque Villa Santa Caterina is surrounded by rolling hills, olive trees, tall cypresses and umbrella pines. There are beautiful view of the organic vineyards in the valley just below. The lush green of nature and the many colors of the herbs and flowers of the garden surround the villa with a feeling of freshness and wellbeing.

In the secluded villa, guests can experience absolute tranquility. The infinity pool separates the main villa (sleeps up to 6) from the property's guest cottage (sleeps 2-4). Villa Santa Caterina was built in the 18th century and today offers guests modern luxury. All rooms are comfortably and cosily furnished. The bright and spacious interiors are furnished in a typical Umbrian style with wooden beamed ceilings, terracotta floors and lots of antique furniture. The master bedroom offers spectacular panoramic views.

The land and the ruins on it were bought and renovated by an American family in 1996. The owner comes to visit regularly and actively takes care of the operation and maintenance of the property. Originally the house was only used for family vacations, but recently it has been opened for rentals so that more people can experience the magic and tranquility of this home. Custodian Adrienne, who lives in the second cottage on the property, greets guests and is available for assistance throughout their stay.

Sustainable

ArchitectureDuring the restoration, care was taken to preserve the original character by reusing old materials. The converted home had to meet modern building codes and historical building standards, including resistance to seismic activity. The construction work took place in cooperation with local craft companies.

EnvironmentBoth the main house and the cottage have central heating in addition to the two wood fireplaces. The property uses environmentally friendly and biodegradable detergents, the fruit and vegetable scraps are composted and the waste is separated. If supplies allow, the water from the in-house well is used.

Well-BeingThe villa has a large outdoor pool, which invites you to swim with a view of the cypresses and umbrella pines. Guests can book massages and yoga classes on site.
