Urfeld 26

Walchensee, Bavaria, Germany

Nestled between forest and mountains, directly on the turquoise shores of Lake Walchensee, lies Urfeld26 – a place of absolute peace and tranquility. Its secluded location, panoramic mountain views, and direct lake views make for a truly immersive nature experience, allowing you to fully appreciate the beauty of the surroundings.

Four years after a comprehensive renovation, the house was opened as a holiday home – a retreat that combines high-quality furnishings, meticulous architecture and the power of nature to create a unique stay.

The house itself combines sophisticated, award-winning architecture with warm, natural materials: soaped white fir floorboards from Jachenau, fabric-covered cabinets, and furniture designed and built by the owners themselves (except for the chairs) create a harmonious, thoughtfully designed interior. Light-filled rooms with skylights invite stargazing, while large fixed windows above the sleeping area bring the view of the lake and mountains directly into the living room.

A panoramic sauna with an outdoor shower on the hillside property ensures relaxing hours with breathtaking views, whether the sun is shining or mist is drifting over the lake. Large, open living areas allow for socializing, while small, cozy corners offer privacy.

The Werner family lovingly runs the house, lives themselves in neighboring Walchensee, and knows the region firsthand. Guests benefit from this proximity: they are happy to share tips on excursions, hidden hiking trails, and the best spots by the lake.

Sustainable

Architecture

The holiday home on Lake Walchensee was built and renovated using local materials: both the exterior and interior cladding consists of silver fir from Jachenau, and the existing 1960s structure was carefully preserved and modernized. Local tradespeople, who sourced materials primarily from the region, were employed for all work.

The Werner family places great importance on social commitment: They specifically employ people from the region who need support and are active in various local associations.

Environment

The house has its own photovoltaic system for generating solar power, waste separation is standard practice, and cleaning is done exclusively with environmentally friendly products. Furthermore, the Werner family is actively involved in various local associations – a sustainable stay that respects nature, the environment, and the community equally.

Well-Being

Urfeld26 offers a private panoramic sauna with an outdoor shower and many beautiful, high terraces for enjoying the views. Hiking enthusiasts can explore routes like Herzogstand, Jochberg, or Heimgarten year-round, while cyclists and mountain bikers will find ideal routes both along the lake and in the adjacent valleys. Those who love the water can swim, try stand-up paddleboarding, canoeing or kayaking, or windsurf and sail on the turquoise waters of Lake Walchensee.
