The two holiday homes Strandweiss & Strandgrau combine a holiday home. They are house to house in the town of Zinnowitz on Usedom and offer up to eight guests their own kingdom with a south-facing garden, private entrance area and spacious, covered terrace on 140 square meters.
Guests sleep in three double bedrooms and one bedroom with bunk beds, and spend quality time in the large living area with a fireplace and a comfortable sofa, or in the spacious kitchen at the long wooden table. After exciting days on the island, a private spa area with a dry and soft sauna with warm steam is available. A wellness bathtub with light and music function and micro-fine air bubbles skilfully rounds off your stay.
Strandweiss & Strandgrau are built robustly and timelessly, so that the guests as well as the hosts and architects, Ulrike and Carsten Gerasch, can enjoy the sustainable timber frame construction for as long as possible. In just ten months, the holiday homes were built by companies from the region using ecological, renewable raw materials. Well-chosen interior design and real wool carpets and linen curtains ensure that special moment of well-being. The ambience is rounded off by the special lighting: During the day, a lot of daylight can flow into the interior, in the evening and during the winter high-quality designer lights are used, both directly and indirectly. The highly insulated wooden construction, the triple-glazed windows and the underfloor heating also ensure a certain level of comfort. A high level of energy efficiency is ensured throughout the house.
If you arrive with your own e-vehicle, you can easily charge it at the in-house wall box. You can also leave your car on site, because the beach in Zinnowitz can be reached on foot in just 500 meters through a beautiful beech forest or the village. No matter what time of year, the holiday homes on Usedom stand for a relaxing holiday in an ecological design house.

ArchitectureThe two holiday homes consist of an untreated timber frame construction. This is insulated with fiberboard and cellulose. The choice was made deliberately for the renewable and high-quality raw material wood, which has an excellent ecological balance: wood binds CO2, requires little energy, is low in pollutants and ultimately easy to recycle. The facade is made of untreated larch wood and over time will form a gray protective layer that is just as desirable. The building construction was implemented by a traditional carpentry on site. The windows and doors used are Cradle to Cradle®-certified, so that all components can be easily dismantled after use, sorted according to type and completely reused without suffering any loss of quality. Great importance was also attached to sustainability inside: the floors are covered with oak parquet or fine stoneware. The stairs as well as the stair walls were individually made of oak wood by a carpenter. In addition, a steel worker was used who made both the table frames and the wardrobes to measure.
EnvironmentThe tailor-made, energy-efficient building technology plays a major role in both holiday homes. The central component is an indoor air-water heat pump. The air for this comes from the ambient air, the heat pump is located in the building connecting the two houses and therefore does not produce any perceptible noises. There is a large photovoltaic system on the southern roof area, which generates electricity and supports the heat pump. If the solar power is not sufficient, additional green power is purchased or excess power is fed back into the grid. In addition, the holiday homes are equipped with a buffer tank that stores moderate heating water. Guests are encouraged to properly separate rubbish and place glass and paper in appropriate containers. All information is available in a guest folder. Some products such as hand soap and washing powder from the Frosch brand are available to guests.
Well-BeingWell-being is thought of holistically here - from a restful sleep in the comfortable beds, with a good book read in the garden, to your own spa area, which is located on the ground floor of each holiday home. The private spa area consists of a sauna with vaporizer, a whirlpool with music and a separate shower with rain shower. The sauna itself can be used as a dry sauna with high temperatures or as a gentle sauna with lots of steam at low temperatures. Lavender and rosemary from the garden can be used as herb rust. And of course the surrounding nature with the proximity to the beach leads to the best well-being experience ever.
