Between the metropolises of Berlin and Dresden lies the Spreewald Biosphere Reserve - a historical cultural and floodplain landscape with lots of nature, wide meadows and an extensive water system of over three hundred kilometers.
The Spreewald Chalet's courtyard ensemble, typical of the region, is a spacious property and an ideal retreat for a relaxing holiday in the Spreewald. The hosts Kathi and Daniel Gerstner also live in the Spreewald with their children and take loving care of their guests. The house was newly built a few years ago and has been constantly expanded since then. From the in-house sauna you can even jump directly into the Spree, which is still clean and wonderfully refreshing.
The holiday home (chalet) can accommodate up to twelve people. It has five bedrooms, four bathrooms, an eat-in kitchen and a large, light-flooded living room with a fireplace. From the terrace you have an unobstructed view of nature. The chalet-style furnishings are modern, high-quality and feature lots of wooden elements and leather furniture. The colors chosen reflect the colors of the Spreewald. The two holiday apartments each offer space for five people and are also very comfortable and cozy.
Here friends and families can enjoy their vacation together and cook together in the large kitchens. By the way, in the Spreewald almost everything revolves around pickled cucumbers or jacket potatoes with quark and linseed oil. After eating, you can relax in front of the roaring fireplace or in the sauna and perhaps read the famous Spreewald legend of the Snake King. Because everything here is a bit mystical and enchanted.

ArchitectureA thatched roof and a log facade made of solid wood. Natural wood was also used inside the house on the ceilings and walls. In addition, there is little sealing of outdoor surfaces. And the conscious decision not to have a pool, as the very clean Spree can be used at any time for swimming/cooling off directly from your own jetty. The large number of fruit trees were subsequently planted to enable guests to pick their own at harvest time.
FoodThere is a welcome welcome with a regional wine and/or sparkling wine. Picking fruit and herbs in the garden is encouraged. The food waste can easily be disposed of in a compost heap at the edge of the property.
There are a variety of collaborations with regional service providers for paddle boat rentals, cosmetic treatments and massages, wine deliveries and more. The hosts also support various school projects and the local traditional club.
EnvironmentThe heating concept is based on a heat pump and highly insulating materials such as wood and the thatched roof. Water is disposed of via an environmentally friendly biological sewage treatment plant, the purified water of which directly benefits the Spree. Accordingly, environmentally friendly cleaning agents are used. Waste separation meets the usual high standards. A compost heap is available on the property for organic waste. The fireplace is heated using firewood from the farm.
Well-BeingThe wellness building, inaugurated in 2024, includes a Finnish sauna, Kneipp foot basin, wellness shower with Kneipp shower hose, wood-clad wellness lounger bunks for privacy, a fitness room with access to online fitness programs, as well as appropriate equipment in the form of Weights, mats and fitness equipment such as ergometers and cross trainers.
