SONNENTOR Stadt-Lofts

Zwettl, Lower Austria, Austria

The SONNENTOR city lofts welcome their guests with an impressive view of historic walls and a blooming natural garden in the inner courtyard.

The five apartments, ranging in size from 23 to 79 square meters, can accommodate 1-7 people and are named Dorli damals, Rusti-Karl, Sieglinde Schwarz and Rosa and Rudi Retro. Each has its own style, from historical to rustic, rural to retro/vintage. The communal kitchen "Aufgetischt" invites you to culinary experiments and cozy meetings. A seminar room offers the opportunity to discover and experience new things with a broad perspective.

The host is the tea and spice specialist SONNENTOR, which has its headquarters 15 minutes away and can be discovered as a day trip destination. Johannes Gutmann was fascinated by the crooked facade of the house when he was at school, and in 2012 it was finally up for sale. The vision was to bring the roots of the house back to life and to allow guests to experience the history of the house and the town of Zwettl. This also helped to preserve Zwettl's special townscape.

The house in which the city lofts are located dates back to the 13th/14th century and is therefore one of the city's founding houses. Over the centuries it has been home to many people and stories. Original furniture, found objects, stories from former residents, listening stations and puzzles tell of another time and allow guests to immerse themselves in the past.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe house dates back to the 13th/14th century. The Gutmann family was keen to preserve the historical components and their history by revitalizing the building structure and to make it come alive. Much of it was restored to how it was. Bricks and old wooden floors were reinstalled, windows and doors were restored and reinstalled, as were original furniture and found objects that now have their place again and tell of the past. A natural garden was created in the courtyard. The renovation required many partners with specialist knowledge, many of whom were from the region.

FoodOrganic teas, organic spices, organic coffee and organic cocoa are available free of charge in the city lofts. Otherwise, there is the organic restaurant "Leibspeis" right next to SONNENTOR in Sprögnitz, 15 minutes from the city lofts. They serve vegetarian, vegan and Austrian cuisine.

The city lofts employ employees from the region who can also take advantage of many offers in Sprögnitz, such as the free organic lunch.
