Sendlhofer's is a family-run hotel in the heart of Salzburg's Bad Hofgastein. Despite the central location, you can relax here - thanks to the beautiful 7,500 square meter garden, the extensive spa facilities and the wonderful food.
The hotel was opened in 1928 and host Lukas Sendlhofer, his girlfriend Eva Goldmann and his sister Martina Sendlhofer are the third generation to run the business. In 2021 the company reopened after a major renovation with a new concept. The hotel consists of 60 rooms. In addition to this there are 16 apartments located in the adjacent guest house. Both houses have direct access to the garden and are thus connected to each other.
The style at Sendlhofer's is alpine, industrial, but also partly Mediterranean. On the one hand, the hosts have tried to incorporate many things from the hotel's more than 90-year history, on the other hand, they have had some things made and artist friends have helped them to create their own atmosphere. The double rooms are all furnished in the same way, the studios and apartments are a bit different.
The entire ground floor was broken through during the conversion and the many large window fronts, some of which can be opened completely, create a smooth transition into the garden.
In the hotel building is the à la carte restaurant Luke's living room, which is characterized by a special concept and a successful combination of regional delicacies, creative dishes and exciting drinks. Half-board was deliberately abandoned in order to make Sendlhofer's a place where holidaymakers and locals feel equally welcome.
But not only in the hotel it can be endured. Gastein is located in the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park and is surrounded by the most beautiful nature. The national park is one of the most magnificent high mountain landscapes. The elevations from the valleys to the summit regions of the three-thousanders stand for an extraordinary wealth of species. You can hike directly from the hotel to the Gamskarkogel, the highest grass mountain in Europe. When the weather is good, you can see the Großglockner from there and experience the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Gastein is also famous for its 42°C hot radon springs. The Gastein Waterfall, one of the most famous Austrian waterfalls, stretches through the center of Bad Gastein in three stages with a drop of 341 meters. There is a waterfall path along the waterfall that you can continue walking to our hotel in Bad Hofgastein.

ArchitectureDuring the conversion of the 94-year-old house, an attempt was made to combine history with the new and also to incorporate the regional influences of the region. In addition, we worked as well as possible with local craftsmen.
FoodSeasonal as well as local food is served, with the Slow Food idea being a top priority. Thanks to the delicacy concept, Sendlhofer's has an average stay of around three hours. The focus at Sendlhofer's is on working primarily with producers from the region, who know the owners personally and to whom they also have a connection. Food should be valued more and guests should be more aware of it. That is why the animal is only ever bought as a whole and only when the whole animal has been processed is the next one bought. Guests can book everything, but they don't have to. In this way, you only order what you can and want to eat and then only pay for that. On the one hand, this avoids food being thrown away and, on the other hand, other businesses and huts in the region are supported. At Luke's Living Room, all dishes are served in appetizer size, which offers the opportunity to try many different things. There are currently over 70 items on the menu. Of course there are also vegetarian, vegan and allergy-friendly dishes. A special highlight is the vegan sushi, or the tartare, the braised beef shoulder with mashed sweet potatoes and the Salzburg dumplings in a cup. Incidentally, the restaurant concept was awarded two forks and two cocktail glasses by Austria's most well-known gourmet magazine, Falstaff. In addition, Sendlhofer's has received the Salzburger Land seal of approval for regionality and the AMA seal of approval.
The hotel employs many people from the region, but also from outside. Great importance is attached to a good working atmosphere. This is achieved through fair payment and fair working hours, the possibility of free employee accommodation, three meals a day and good cooperation. The hosts also donate to the mountain rescue service, the volunteer fire brigade and the Red Cross, i.e. mainly to regional institutions. For example, there was already a charity campaign for the Ukraine in the form of a Wine & Dine event.
EnvironmentThe accommodation has deep drilling, solar and photovoltaic systems, pays particular attention to waste separation and appreciates that the food is sourced locally. By default, there is also no minibar in the double rooms. If you book a minibar, the amount will be used to reforest the forests in Gastein. This will be communicated in the hotel TV channel.
Well-BeingRelaxation is very important at Sendlhofer's and from massages, saunas, steam baths, infrared cabins to fango, Thalasso, cosmetic treatments to pools and radon baths, there is everything you need to really switch off.
