ArchitectureDuring construction, mainly ecological building materials and efficient insulation materials were used. The surfaces, mostly made of wood, are treated with natural oils. Harmful varnishes and paints were avoided.
EnvironmentOver 3,500 local plants were planted on the property in accordance with the specifications of the national park administration to create a natural garden in which the cabins are gracefully distributed. As few areas as possible were sealed and light pollution is also kept as low as possible by very subtle outdoor lighting. Neugrad is therefore a place where it is particularly good to observe the stars. The conversion and renaturalization of 15,000 square meters of formerly military-used wasteland has resulted in a positive ecological footprint. No car traffic on the site, the cleaning vehicle is an electric vehicle. Use of rainwater and strictly separate waste disposal - no disposable packaging, even the packaging material for breakfast deliveries is completely recyclable. Where there is a lot of nature, there are also a lot of animals. The glass facades of the cabins are covered with a dot grid in accordance with the specifications of the Lower Nature Conservation Authority, so that bird strikes are avoided.
