mirnockAHOI

Ferndorf, Carinthia, Austria

In Carinthia, overlooking the surrounding mountain panorama and situated above the deep blue Lake Millstatt, the mirnockAHOI holiday home invites you to enjoy relaxing days surrounded by nature. Here you can recharge your batteries, find peace and quiet and enjoy a carefree home away from home.

Since 2022, Kerstin and her family have been welcoming guests to mirnockAHOI for holidays, retreats, and workations. The holiday home that her father bought for the family and which Kerstin then renovated together with her husband is located in the immediate vicinity of the 300-year-old farm where she spent many summers helping her grandparents with their summer guests – a truly special place. A natural host, she loves welcoming people from all over the world. And the name? "Ahoi" (Ahoy) because of her father, a real seafarer, and Kerstin's own childhood on the coast. And Mirnock is the name of the local mountain, which is said to possess a very special energy.

It was particularly important to the family to use all resources responsibly during the renovation and to clearly demonstrate their connection to nature. Light colors and natural materials create a cozy atmosphere. Furthermore, the house was designed to offer all guests—and especially families—every comfort they could need on vacation. The kitchen is fully equipped, and high chairs and stair gates ensure safety. There is ample seating in the garden for everyone, and those who wish can relax in the hammock. It is these thoughtful details that make the stay effortless and relaxing.

As the daughter of a cook, Kerstin loves to cook and bake – and with a bit of luck, there's fresh cake or homemade jam on the table for her guests. And that feels incredibly wonderful, like comfort and home!

Sustainable

Architecture

As a civil engineer, Kerstin's husband built the house largely through his own efforts, using regional materials and prioritizing sustainability. Many of the furnishings are antique, secondhand, or flea market finds that have been lovingly restored. The result: charming, high-quality, and thoughtfully designed.

Kerstin runs a regional job platform with over 10,000 members, which brings together supply and demand free of charge and thus supports people from the region.

Environment

Energy is generated by a photovoltaic system, so guests are asked to leave appliances running during the day. The house's drinking water comes directly from a mountain spring. A SodaStream in the house is intended to eliminate the need to buy bottled water. All cleaning products are biodegradable, and green waste is composted. The garden is natural and bee-friendly, which is why the neighbor's chickens often roam freely.
