At the Hucianka holiday home, the day begins with a view of the surrounding greenery: Forest and meadows stretch out before the windows, lavender grows in the garden, and with a bit of luck, you might even spot deer.
The house itself is over a hundred years old. Built in 1898, it has retained its character to this day. Historic walls, old details, and furniture, many of which belonged to the family, tell the story of the house and make it feel more organic than furnished.
Asia and Radek from Wrocław discovered the house quite by chance in 2008. They weren't actually looking for a renovation project. At the time, Hucianka was a ruin – but they were immediately captivated by it. They decided to save the house and restore it piece by piece. Asia is an art historian and designed the rooms with a keen sense of the existing structure. Among others, a shoemaker and students lived here in the past; later, the family used the house themselves as a retreat. For a long time it remained private, but now Asia and Radek are opening their doors to guests. At around 400 square meters, the accommodation is spacious, yet doesn't feel cold. High ceilings, alcoves, and large windows bring plenty of light into the house, while solid wood furniture, the fireplace, and the old walls create a warm atmosphere. Instead of a uniform decorating style, there are items that have accumulated over the years and blend well with the old house. In summer, the scent of lavender fills the garden; in winter, it's the fire in the fireplace.

During the renovation, great care was taken to preserve as much of the original building fabric as possible. Hucianka has a masonry structure with timber framing – a construction method that differs from the wooden half-timbered houses typical of Antoniów. Original structural elements and details from the late 19th century remain visible even after the historically sensitive renovation. Only local craftspeople and materials were used for the work. The structural timber was reclaimed, and the roof design also reflects the historical style: the standing seam roofing matches the original construction. Doors and other details were also newly crafted based on the surviving originals, so that the additions blend seamlessly into the old house.
Waste is collected separately, water consumption is monitored, and alternative, more environmentally friendly cleaning methods are used. Hucianka is also involved in local environmental initiatives, including clean air and environmental protection projects in the municipality of Stara Kamienica. These projects focus on improving water quality, sustainable forestry, and environmental education. The house itself has its own well.
